Little Life Ladybird Wheelie Bag as Hand luggage?

I know all airlines vary, but I wondered if anyone had flown and used one of these for their children. (this one) My DD has fallen in love with it, and the quality seems to be good if the reviews are anything to go by.

I am quite tempted, but am a bit concerned about the dimensions. They quote 35x25x42cm. This would fit Easyjet's requirements, but not Ryanair as far as I can tell (Their smallest dimension is a piffling 20cm!!!).

If the Little Life specs are at all out, however - or don't include the wheels etc, then I may be investing in something that is going to cause more grief than it is worth. I don't want to have to explain to my 4yr old why her special bag is taken away from her in the airport...

If anyone has bought one and can share their (budget) flight experiences I would be very grateful.

Could you go for the back pack instead? Need to check the dimensions but I was going to take ds' dinosaur backpack (we use as reins too) in 2 weeks but on a Thomson flight.

Thomson are much more friendly - I think you will definitely be fine with the back pack there.

It was really a pull-along bag that my DD wanted. She is also VERY keen on the Trunki, but I am not so keen on that as although it is slightly smaller (20.5cm in smallest direction) it has a hard shell, and is therefore much less flexible for squashing into things like overhead luggage lockers. (I also have visions of her scooting around the airport at speed and getting very disapproving looks from those she knocks over as she does so)!!

The back packs are lovely though. Perhaps I can persuade her Smile

Don't know about that one, but we have a Samsonite one like a ladybird for DD1 (DD2 has a bee) and they are fine on RyanAir.

It's great for them to have some things in carry on with them. Books, colouring etc for on the flight and a few clothes in case of lost luggage. Useful on a few trips where DD2 has been travel sick too!

MephistophelesSister · 31/07/2012 20:28

surroundedbyblondes is that this one?

It is lovely - and may just be the answer. The smallest dimension given is 20cm, rather than 25cm for the Little Life. (Just squeezing into the Ryanair rules).

I will have to shop around a bit, though. I am looking at £32 inc delivery for the Little Life, and so far all the Google hits I have for the Samosonite are pretty much double that Sad

We have a trunki too but once they get bored of it it's a bit of a pain to carry around with pushchair etc, think we'll leave it at home this year.

wishiwasonholiday I was wondering why so many turn up on Ebay!

Yep, that's it. My DM bought them very generously. We live abroad and travel a few times a year back to see them, so decent luggage is good to have.
We always get smiles from other travellers when they see DDs pulling their cute cases. Grin
