Flying easy jet - have I understood this right?

Am probably being a bit of a lemon but haven't flown easyjet for years and it's got very clever. I've printed our boarding passes - does this mean there is no check in? We just drop our baggage and go straight to security and gate?

TIA

Yep :) The first time this happened to me I stood like an idiot in the check-in area for ages wondering which queue I was meant to be in as I didn't have any hold luggage.

Ponders · 24/07/2012 10:29

where do you get the hold baggage tag from? (I've never done this)

StickyProblem · 24/07/2012 10:48

There is a "baggage drop" queue, probably next to the check in queue. Sadly you don't save yourself queueing because you usually have to queue to drop the bags.

Listen out for the staff calling your flight, if it gets close-ish to your flight they sometimes pick you out of the queue.

The flight is 6.45am, I'm hoping it won't be too busy! We've paid for express security so that should speed us up. I suppose all that's actually saved by this system is printing out boarding cards and checking passports at check in. Oh well.

You will be surprised how busy it will be at that time of the morning !

we flew to Pisa from Manchester at around 7am last summer with Jet2. They had a communal check-in queue for 4 or 5 flights, all leaving at approx the same time, it was chaos - we got there in plenty of time but there were so few desks open Pisa passengers ended up having to be pulled out of the queue & then hustled all the way through security, departures etc

never flying Jet2 again Hmm

(there were a LOT of flights leaving between 6am-8am so just getting to the terminal building was mad too)

Oh Christ. Dh will be in a right piss then.

I got pretty pissy myself last year, chub!

if you can manage it, leave even earlier than you were planning to - you might end up hanging around in the terminal for a bit longer but that's much preferable to panicking in a slow-moving queue

good luck.

& have a nice holiday Smile

remember to print out all your return stuff too

I only use Easyjet for short breaks - so no luggage. But yes, you are 'checked in' - and just drop off your bags.

I would say to go in plenty of time though. The last few times we have flown (usually Liverpool or Manchester) the queues for security have been quite long. We haven't had lots of time to browse the shops or get bored - and I generally like to get there at least two hours before the flight.

Have you submitted yourAPI stuff on line too??

Chubfuddler · 24/07/2012 15:14

Yes I did that, thank you. We have paid for express security so hopefully won't take too long - although if everyone pays the airport is three quid a head up and we still wait .....

Speedy boarding really helps. I agree with Shrimp though, get there early. I have done very early ones from Gatwick North Terminal and the place is packed.
Although I just arrive at normal time and jump on them when they call my flight out of the queue! There was no hustling through security btw, you just jump some of the two hour queue.
