Anyone done this recently?

I just got told by aer lingus rep that birth certificate would be fine, their website says baby needs a passport and I wonder whether we'd get DS through security at gatwick without one. The FCO website really not helpful on this one, saying its away the carrier demand (but if the carrier is contradicting itself??!)

I don't want to get him one yet,, because fees are due to go down in September, but do I need to? Has anyone done the journey recently?

Have to admit, small child had a passport when we travelled between the two, so no questions asked.

Aer Lingus comment on minors travel document requirements.

Looking at the above though, it seems that, as long as you can evidence you are the baby's parent / guardian, then non-photo ID (i.e. birth cert) is fine.

Have a good journey!
