Hi there I want to send my dd 13 to Italy to her aunt in Milan but am finding it difficult to find an airline that gives assistance to minors which goes directly from Dublin to Milan. Does anyone have any experience with this?

BA has an unaccompanied minors thing. They essentially make sure she's on the flight and is met at the other end. there's a small charge but tbh if it's a direct flight and she's 13 I think she'd be fine so long as you make sure she understands the procedure for getting to the right gate and someone's there to meet her at Milan airport.

Is there any airline that does that route? if there is, you need to contact them.
I've seen umpteen unaccompanied minors, all of them have been handled by a big airline - BA, Virgin, Emirates, Thai etc, none by a budget one. I should think that, for a price, they would provide that service.

Aer Lingus flies that route. Dublin airport is very easy to negotiate and once the 13 yr old is through security, they should be well able to manage on their own. There is always plenty of staff of all types around to ask for help in getting to the gate.
Have they flown before?
I don't know what Milan is like, but as long as they have help to the checking in/getting through security sections then they should be fine.
The first time I flew on my own I was 11.

This is what Aer Lingus says about unaccompanied children.

Children (between 12-15 years old)
Unaccompanied minors under the age of 14 departing Italy must have a parental consent form authorised by their local police before being allowed to travel. Please note that rules and regulations for children travelling alone may vary by country, so please check the applicable regulations with the local country authorities.
Subject to the above, unaccompanied young passengers between the ages of 12 and 15 inclusive will be accepted on Aer Lingus flights on the basis that they are travelling as an adult and subject to the following requirements:
The parent or guardian will be required to sign a Form of Indemnity at the airport on the day of departure confirming that Aer Lingus has no responsibility to provide special assistance to these passengers. In the case of a return ticket, the Form of Indemnity will also cover the return flight. Aer Lingus will deny boarding to any unaccompanied young person between the age of 12 and 15 inclusive should the parent /guardian fail to complete this form.
The parent or guardian will need to accompany the young passenger to the airport and go to the check-in desk where they may be asked to provide a form of identification.
Young passengers must not use online check-in or an airport check-in kiosk.
In the case of connecting flights, the rules applicable to young passengers will depend on the airline concerned. Other airlines, including our partners United Airlines and JetBlue Airways, may require that young passengers travelling alone avail of special assistance which may be subject to the payment of an additional fee. These airlines must be contacted directly to request this service.
Young passengers connecting to another flight must make their own way to the connection gate
