Perfect. Why go elsewhere? Barcelona is wonderful.

I did come on here to suggest Budapest, so if for any reason Barcelona doesn't work out....

I've done girly weekends in both Paris and Barcelona. Both were great but I think Barcelona has the edge. Would go March rather than Feb though if you stand chance of some good weather.

I've done a girly weekend in Barcelona in January and it was sunny but obv. not warm.

Had a great time. I'll try to remember the name of the hotel because it was really fab and not expensive.

one of my friends suggested Budapest. I have never been. Its either a weekend abroad or I hire a large house and have a weekend in the UK.....canrt make my mind up.

Choose Barcelona. It is a wonderful, wonderful place, I can't imagine not having a good time there.

Yes Barcelona will be fab. I went to Madrid for a friend's 40th a few years ago - that was brilliant. I enjoyed it so much I have been back 5 times (with dH ).

Barcelona will have better weather than Madrid at that time of year - will be very cold in Madrid in feb/march. Barcelona may be a bit more bearable.

I have a nother friend who loves Rome for a city break - I haven't been myself though - but she goes regularly.

I have been to Budapest, but I was 15 and things were very different back then (1980s). However, I reckon it will be extremely cold. It seems to be quite popular now for a city break.

Barcelona and Budapest are two of my favourite European city breaks. Both are fab, and have loads to do, but are quite different.

Barcelona has great shopping, fantastic architecture, clubbing and a great bar/cafe scene. Oh, and a bit of beach.

Budapest has thermal spas, odd eastern bloc remnants, the Hungarian House of Wine, interesting history, and a cruise on the Danube.

Budapest will probably be colder, but I might swing towards it for a weekend - and I'd seriously consider living in Barcelona! Tell us what you're interested in, and maybe we can help recommend what might suit your group??

Venice when the carnival is on at the end of February is an amazing experience. The city is really buzzing and the costumes are stunning.

There will be 10 of us age range from 30 to 42. I was thinking Spa, shopping. To be honest i have no idea! I dont think it will be sun bathing weather in march. I dont want to be wandering around doing nothing.

The weather is likely to be better in Barcelona in March. There is loads to do, and see, and the shopping is good. It is Euros there, though, which makes it a bit more expensive. Not sure about the spas in Barcelona, but there is plenty of sightseeing.

If you can make it a long weekend then New York or Dubai it is your 40th free all Wink

Barcelona would be great. Depending where you can get flights to, Valencia, Alicante, Palma also good.

lapsedorienteerer · 23/07/2012 21:08

Vienna, Budapest or Rome.

Budapest is fab for mini break. As us Rome. Also Seville. Fly out to Madrid and get train to Seville. It's a brilliant journey. I don't think you can go wrong with Eurostar to Paris.
