Hi there,
DD and I will be flying out from Scotland via London to join my DH who is working out there for a while. We will be traveling on our own and as this is my first time attempting anything like this I'm hoping to get a few tips from those with more experiance!
We'll be flying business which is maybe a bad thing when I think of those trying to work/sleep before having to go to work.
Also a bit stuck about buggys/type of clothing to take for a little baby etc.

Any advice welcome! Thanks in advance

This is a great age to fly with them (much better than with a toddler who wants to run up and down the aisle!) The best advice I can give is to try and feed your baby when you take off and land, as the sucking helps their little ears pop. If you are BF, don't hesitate to give the boob during the flight if it helps your baby settle. Also, check if there's the chance of getting a little pull down crib on the flight, as it can be nice to give your arms a break and have a rest yourself.

Have a great trip!

Nothing extra to add except have fun in Singapore! We moved to LA with 10week old and 3.5yr old, thankfully in business too - tons more room so even easier

You'll be fine, take calpol just in case but babies are by far easiest to travel with (and other passengers most forgiving of)

Not looking forward to the same journey on my own in economy with same children but 6months older....

Also, I'd take long sleep suits as the air con can get a bit cold for them. I used to also pack enough nappies for one every two hours of travel (including commuting and airport waits). A bit of overkill, but it was worth it not to worry about running out Grin

I've done quite a bit of long haul with a young baby although always been in economy (:-)) so Business would be a dream to me!! Book a night flight out of London so baby will hopefully sleep most of the way. Minimize carry on baggage. I made the mistake on my first flight of taking too many nappies and clothes and not enough distractions eg books toys. Although he was a sicky baby he managed to last in the same outfit for about 30 hours! Clothes I mean, obviously I changed his nappy!!

I BFed at my seat under a cover. Tried to BF in the toilets (I actually prefer that as DS was a curious and wriggly baby) but he found it too distracting so did it at my seat.

Check the situation with bassinets in Business - you will definitely need one!

You will be able to use your stroller in the airport, through customs as far as the gate then fold down for them to store on board. Check where it will be on disembarking with staff or ground staff when you arrive. Some airports give it back to you when you get off the plane and others will have it waiting for you near baggage claim. I forget what they do in SG.

If you use a dummy take loads. I get DS to suck on take off and landing as he's invariably not hungry.

If you have a sling you might want to take it to use when faffing around with things and need both hands. Eg at security at heathrow when DS was 7 months they made me put everything on the belt including folding up the stroller. I had to put DS on the floor!!

Good luck! X

I second putting them in an all in one and maybe even a cardi on top as it can get a bit chilly after a while. Take 2 spare sets of clothes for the baby and 1 spare set for you, I always get sicked/pooed on, or spill all my dinner down me!! For when you are here in Singapore ( I live here), when they are outside will be fine with a vest with short sleeves and no legs bit inside will need blanket cos of Aircon, enjoy!
