Mum & daughter holiday to Spain, daughter (7) has different surname - do I need extra doc showing father's premission?

DH and I are taking separate holidays with our daughter this year as otherwise she ends up spending 5 of the 6 weeks of the summer holidays back at school in holiday club (we have no family support network to help out). I don't use my married name so DD has a different surname to me on her passport. I booked a cheap package to Spain but a message came up after booking telling me to check with the Spanish Embassy about extra documentation (letter of permission from DH?) that I might need to take her into and out of the country - there is no info about this on the Spanish Embassy website and I can't get through to the Embassy on the phone. Does anyone know what I need to get and where I get it from? Do I/my DH need to go to a solicitor to get a letter certified? Any advice welcome!

you just need a copy of her birth certificate, so that they can see you are the mother.

even if she wasn't your daughter, a simple letter from the parents with their passport photocopied onto it would suffice. I took a friend's child to Spain this winter for 10 days and I was only questioned about it in Gatwick on our way back. I showed them the letter and they were ok with it.

I travel with 2 Dds and have a different surname. I haven't thought to take birth Certs.on 2 occasions dd1 has been taken to immigration desk and asked who I was. " it's my mum" with a very quizzical look!
