Are your interested in cork city or county? Will you be arriving by ferry or flying? If you have transport "trabolgan" is a holiday village about 15 mins drive from the other side of cork city (not the airport side). They have a web site i expect. it offers swimming pool, other activities, entertainment etc. the town of Kinsale is the airport side, about 20 mins drive. It is a small fishing town with the reputation of being the gourmet food capital of ireland. There probably isnt too much for children there, although there is a fort. Its more of a couple weekend away place!

I know a lovely place, although not cheap.

Fantastic for families as they provided us with cot, pushchair, toys, books, & lovely play area in garden.

The views are superb and within walking distance of Kinsale.

We are hoping to go back some time.

I'm not a fan of Cork city personally (my dad lives about an hour from the city), but if you head west there are some absolutely stunning places - Clonakilty is lively, near beaches, great pubs, child friendly etc. Rosscarbery is a very pretty village along the same road. There are two lots of holiday cottages in Rosscarbery: the company is called Celtic Cottages (I had a quick look on Google and there are lots of companies with that name, so you would want to search for Celtic Cottages Rosscarbery). Skibereen and Schull are also lovely - again plenty of holiday cottages in the vicinity. Self catering is definitely best - eating out is extremely expensive, especially with a family. Pubs in Ireland are generally very child friendly (outside the cities), but a recent law means kids are now kicked out at 9 (very unpopular in tourist areas where pubs make their living from holidaying families), and of course everywhere is non-smoking. Not sure if you are referring to your own family in which case you probably know all this already, have a great time Smile
