Travel insurance for teenager

Hello, my 19-year-old niece is going on holiday with her friends (for the first time) in July and she's asked me to help her look into travel insurance (it's reasonable for me to suspect that that actually means I will pay for it).
Can anyone suggest a decent policy for her? My eldest is nine so I haven't a clue of potential pitfalls.
TIA

if she hasn't got any medical conditions or anything like that then something fairly cheap & simple should do.

IMO it's always worth paying the small amount extra for an excess waiver.

I'm just checking on Which for their best one...

7 day policy:

Direct Travel Standard £8
Protectyourbubble.com Standard £9
TopNotchCover.com Silver £9
AA £10
Bengo Travel Optimum £10

15 days including cover for things like volcanic ash, strikes, holiday company collapsing:

Topnotchcover.com Silver £10
Bengo Travel Optimum £11
Protectyourbubble.com Standard £11
Holidaysafe Premier £13
Direct Travel Standard £14

so 4 of the top 5 are the same for both

for comparison, my 23-yr-old who has pre-existing knee problems just paid £38 for 2 weeks including excess waiver, & covering his knee

Thanks so much Ponders! I really appreciate that.

they all generally offer different levels of cover so check what you'd get. DS1 could have paid £20 for basic cover, but the limits are way higher on his comprehensive policy; & he's had his passport stolen, which is covered (up to £500) under the comprehensive one but wouldn't have been under the basic.

Obviously we all always hope we won't need it, but it's nice to know we don't need to worry if we do Smile

(Incidentally you don't say when she booked it, but for future ref tell her she should always buy insurance as soon as she books even if 6 months ahead - it doesn't cost any more & covers if you have to cancel due to illness or something)

you're welcome, Parachutes Smile
