HELP! In Ryanair speak, does "up to the day prior" also include the day prior?

Passengers who have checked in online but now wish to change a flight date, route or passenger name must contact a reservation centre up to the day prior to flight departure

I need to do this & the flight is tomorrow - before I waste 25 minutes hanging on at 10p a minute, does anyone know how they interpret this please?

(God I hate Ryanair)

I don't know but I hate Ryanair too

mostly I hate the way I keep travelling with them over and over again!

good luck, had any joy yet?

oh thank you, Alameda Smile

yes, had luck, thank god - it's DS1's flight, he's been in Germany since Thursday & managed to get his moneybelt (inc passport) nicked overnight on Friday Hmm so it's been a torrid few days reporting to police & then getting new emergency travel document

but as he had previously checked in online with the old passport, it was necessary to communicate with Ryanair to change those details - I was trying earlier (his phone is on the blink) & got cut off after 19+ mins at one point aaaaaaaaaaaaargh (that's £2 easy money for them & BT Hmm) & then when I did get through they were all po-faced & wouldn't let me do it as I'm not on the ticket (fair enough I spose...)

luckily he was able to get through quite quickly later, & got someone sane & helpful who changed all the details for him. well, she said she did...we'll find out tomorrow. she didn't mention a charge either but I'm not holding my breath (it's normally 50 quid-or-euros for eg a name change)

I still hate Ryanair with a passion though. haven't used them yet meself. Hope never to have to!

Don't! I don't know why I get suckered in time and time again. Well I do, it's because the nearest cheapest flight will be, say, £50 more so it seems worth it. Then there's something like £12 admin per person per flight for paying with a visa, then you realise you need some luggage after all and that's about £50 alone and then I always seem to somehow not opt out of stuff I don't want along the way and realise I could have flown with a normal airline and had a much nicer journey. Think I have two coming up soon, one to Sardinia one to mainland Italy but after that it will be Proper Airlines all the way or Not At All!

Thank goodness you got it sorted out. Poor boy, is he ok? What a horrible thing to happen Angry

Ponders · 27/06/2012 00:12

he is ok, thank you, alameda Smile

it was a hard lesson to learn but I think he's learned it - he was at a music festival, got somewhat pissed & (apparently) just dropped his money belt in the tent when he lurched to bed, rather than stuffing it into the bottom of his sleeping bag. he won't make that mistake again (I devoutly hope)

very true though that scheduled airlines can be as cheap if not cheaper, & def much more civilised. always worth looking at them as well before going for the hideous cheapies, make sure you do in future!!!

DS2 (a horse of a different colour) was going to Berlin in July to see Radiohead, & in December booked round trip with Lufthansa for £94, which was not that different from eg easyjet, but with much better T&C

Radiohead have recently postponed following that horrendous stage collapse in Canada, & DS2 then cancelled the flight - accidentally - which is even more stupid than DS1's moneybelt fiasco, as he's lost the money & the same flight is now £250!

kids - dontcha love 'em?

argh, no, I am not feeling all that loved up towards one of mine for not paying her rent (or caring that it falls to guarantor Angry) but managing to buy another iPhone instead

she is currently sheltered by a lovely MNer as I blew a gasket at a final straw even before the iPhone

but coincidentally just went to and from Berlin a week or two ago via Ryanair, it was about £12 one way and (because am as feckless as a teen) nearly £300 return at short notice - eye watering for what you get, they seem to be the only ones flying into stansted every day from Berlin though (and that's where my car was)

Ponders · 27/06/2012 00:34

oh god, we have had major money issues with ours over the last 10 years or so, although to be fair none of them has dumped a guarantor liability on us - yet - although I think we may have come close once, can't remember details now but if we had, that iphone thing would have sent me ballistic too.

the child concerned has also been ridiculously casual about things like servicing car regularly, & subsequently broken down at much vaster expense, paid for by us Angry

that return fare from Berlin is appalling! but true that if Stansted is your airport you are stuck with O'Leary Sad. We are in NW so have a bit of choice - subject to a period of notice!

I guess not a helpful point at which to say 'I blame the parents'? Grin

I think it is v hard not to bail them out, and quite difficult to know when to let them learn the natural consequences and when to give in to the instinctive compassion when someone is struggling - through own fault or not? Especially when I suspect she learned from the best! Conversely I have one really incredibly organised and competent adult child, I mean so much so it is a bit irritating Blush

Whatever else though I am NOT doing ryanair again! Unless I am alone, need no luggage and it genuinely is about £16 return and the alternative is over £100. Dreading next flight with grown up child, her infant and my youngest teen after some of the threads on here about flying budget airlines with babies. Eeeek!

Alameda · 27/06/2012 00:49

( that organised one is on MN, I love you really and am insanely proud of you!)
