Pillows as hand luggage

Does anyone have any experience of this? I've read advice a few places that, with baby and toddler flying long haul, it's worth taking pillows. Do you just clutch them, or do they have to fit in your bag?

They have to fit in your bag. You can get blow-up ones which I've always found quite comfy or you can wear a fleece and roll it up as a pillow.

The big airlines will allow you to carry pillows blankets etc, I travel alot with the 3 DC's and the older ones carry their own blankies, I carry pillows, changing bag and everything else. Put rubberbands around them and strap to buggy. I wouldnt do it on a budget airline as they are much stricter.

Have not flown emirates but go through Heathrow and have never had a problem. Esp if you have kids, you can get away with their snuggleblanket and special pillow:)
