Formula on holiday

Hello, Just wondering if anyone can help with a really silly question - DH and I are going to Menorca soon, when formula-fed DD2 will be approx 8 months old. Am I right to assume that baby formula is easy enough to come by in the shops there? Also she is on solids (mostly finger foods), baby food should also be easy enough to find right?

I feel like a bit of a tit asking this as I know it's not the back of beyond, but just after some reassurance that we can get what we need while there.

Thanks in advance for replies

I would take enough formula for the duration (formula milk tins can be put into your suitcase) or at least take enough for a few days - same with the finger foods if she likes a particular type of finger food. You do not want to spend the first day or so of your holiday hunting for such items.

Yes - take formula as some uk brands are not available and other are called different names (Aptimil is Milupa for example and pampers nappies are didot).

I would stick a few ellas or plum pouches in your case for back up - spanish baby food is very tasty but completely smooth until over 12 months.

I agree withthe other posters - take it with you.

I have done two holidays abroad with my twins. I took formula to make breakfast with in the room (they're breastfed so didn't need it for drinking) and enough Ella's pouches for them to share on at each meal, then they had whatever I could find as a sort of 'top up' to the half pouch. If you only have one baby, you should be able to fit enough pouches in for one per meal if she'll eat that much.

I also took a box of mini breadsticks, a bag of rice cakes, some biscuits and some fruit purée pouches. Basically enough so I knew they would be adequately fed even if I didn't manage to find many things to add from our restaurant meals.

Nappies are also rediculously expensive in most of Spain/Italy/Greece, so I'd take them with you too. And swim nappies are hard to find, so throw in a bag of them too!

With most package holidays, an infant gets 10kg of luggage allowance, so don't assume that because you're not paying for her she has to share your allowance - check with the airline. You can normally take a buggy or travel cot as well as the 10kg.

Have a lovely time :)
