Am looking at this hotel but the beach for the entire area (on google earth!) seems to be the tiny oblong in front of the hotel- IS this the case? Is the rest rocks?

And will we need a car?

The calas are the beaches, they are not long wide ones as we have here, they are deep from land to sea and have rocky sides like a big horseshoe shape. This means that you need to get a position on the beach near to the water if you need to supervise young DC otherwise you could be too far away to watch them. They are also not very big so can get a bit crowded.

Whether you hire a car is up to you, if you like going in to town in the evening 900m could be a bit of a trek each way. It could be a bonus if you want to travel further afield and explore, but the public transport is good and quite cheap, and there are always loads of excursions on offer.

Thanks, girly! Currently I am really struggling to find somewhere with vacancies which is I guess what happens if you start considering your summer holiday in mid-June Grin

Yes, it always helps to book a few months in advance, especially if you are after a hotel that isn't big and has people who book from year to year! Also if your hotel does weddings they can get full very quickly with wedding guests.

You might consider getting a travel agent to help you, they can find all the late deals which might be of interest, especially if they can find the type of accommodation that you want. Remember that sometimes if you choose self-catering, there may be the option to add in breakfast and/or dinner.

Right. Booked. We used the FamilyLittenTree's default solution where we substitute 'money' for 'forethought' Grin

Cottage here will be something like £1300 (inc car hire tbf), flights £650.

Done. Now I don't have to think about it any more apart from imagining how lovely it's all going to be, right?!

Pollensa village is lovely, quaint shops, nice cafes, traditional greengrocers and so on. Puerto Pollensa is fab for beach days, boat trips from harbour etc, and again good restaurants.

Look at the website www.puertopollensa.com for lots of information about that resort.

It WILL be lovely!

Thanks! And for the link. I'm quite excited about it, actually, which is great! Normally I irritate myself with how 'ho hum' I can be about such things.
