DD traveling with uncle, what do I need?

My brother is taking dd (12) skiing in Switzerland next year - Feb. They have different surnames, and I've got this idea in the back of my head that this might pose some difficulties; what do I need to do to ensure whatever authorities are satisfied that he is not stealing her, or whatever it is?

If there is no chance of you going with them I would obtain a notarised letter signed by you giving permission for him to take your child to Switzerland. Make this letter as detailed as possible; give full details of holiday and your contact details.

Agree, you need a letter just incase.

Thank you. Notarised, I hadn't thought of that.

When DD was travelling with my parents, we gave them a permission letter (not notarised though), copies of my & DH's passport & a letter giving permission for them to make emergency & routine medical decisions.

No-one looked for anything any of the times they've travelled with her.

I do wonder how necessary it is, but I would hate something to happen and then my bro's non-parental status to impede. They're not going until Feb, so there's loads of time to sort it out.

I gather there is no official thing though?

I travel frequently (3 times a year) with children I have nannied for (France to UK and Ireland to Uk and return). I take: letter from parents, signed by both parents with their mobile numbers on, copies of parents passports and copies of children's birth certificates.

Hope that's helpful!

That's great, thanks.
