I am trying to choose between Legoland (which fills me with dread tbh), Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures. This will be on a weekday during term-time (we have a rare in-service day that I want to use wisely!). Please give me the wisdom of your opinions and experiences before I make the wrong choice!!!

I took DS, then 6.5 to legoland last October and he had a great time. I wouldn't do some of the rides but accidentally went on the (small) rollercoaster in the castle which he loved. The acquarium ride is great.

We went to legoland at Easter. My 10, 7 and 3 yo DS's all loved it. Be warned, however, it is very expensive!
We haven't been to any of the others, so I can't comment on those.

Lego land for your two, Chessington when they are 8 and 10, and Thorpe Park ( aaaargh) when they are 10 and 12.
Lego land very hilly, lots of walking, so try to lan your route rather than doubling back & forth.
One thing tho, even tho' it is in term time, it is very god value to get an annual pass if you live locally, which gives a discount on refreshments, so a lot of local families use it as the mum's coffee meeting place, after school catchups etc, so sadly is just as packed all year round, not peacefully empty on inset days....

Thorpe park really only has very big rides and nothing much else last time I went. I am a woose and only went on one ride and the 4d cinema all day. You need to find out if yours are big enough for the rides.

Legoland is lovely and am sad that my two are too big for it now. I am sure you can pick up special offers to make it cheaper.

Haven't been to chessington for a while but it had a good mix of rides for everyone plus the zoo

Thanks so much for your thoughts - looks like I should swallow my fear and head for Legoland then, unless anyone else comes along to dissuade me....

We loved Legoland, took a picnic so it wasn't pricey, and ate whilst in queues so they didn't get bored. The pirate show thing was v popular and a good excuse to sit down for a bit!

How tall are they? If they are both 1.2m and brave souls, then Chessington has bigger rides, and it has the zoo for something different. Legoland obviously has the lego and the new Star Wars Lego exhibit if they are fans. My children are 6+2 months and 7+9 months and love both for different reasons!

Thorpe Park is good once they are a little older - there is a bunch of good rides they can do at this age and a couple more that very brave 1.3m DD can do, but your 6 yr old probably won't be that tall.

I need to measure them when they come home from school i think!

legoland i would say AND if you want to save money recently on tesco own brand cereals they had vouchers ont he back for 2 for 1 entry to legoland, chessington etc, it was only mentioned on the front of the boxes in small writing top corner in a little triangle but it was their own range cheerios, shreddies etc and you got two vouchers on the back of each box :)

chessington. It has the zoo too, and 6 and 8 is getting a bit old for legoland imo. The rides are mostly for younger children there. Mine outgrew it by 6, it was just down the road from us.
