Please can anyone help me, my brain is going crazy looking at different hotels but I just can't decide on the right one. I have quite a list of wants and don't wants:
Kids swimming pool (heated as we are looking at going early in the season)
Kids club that will be open in early season
Sandy beach that we can walk to.
Kids play area.
Rooms with interconnecting doors or at least rooms that are big enough so it doesn't feel a squeeze with 3 of us.
Less than a 3 hour flight from Uk and as short transfer time from airport as possible.
I am also looking for a bit of adult luxury so spa, posh rooms etc
But I also want a hotel that is fairly quiet - I really need my sleep and have stayed in some pretty noisy hotels in my time and really want some peace this time.
Can anyone help with some personal recommendations? I would be so grateful.
Thanks
C

Hi there we stayed in the Grande Real Santa Eulalia in Portugal which I think ticks quite a few of your boxes. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment but you'd actually have plenty of room in a one bed with your DC in the lounge/kitchen or they do interconnecting rooms in the main hotel.

There is a play area and a kids club which looked absolutely fine but DS refused to go to except when it was english kids film time, conveniently at the same time as cocktails for me Grin , it was very hot when we were there so I can't remember if the kids pool was heated or not.

It has a spa which offered some treatments at half price. It is within walking distance of the beach - there is a lovely restaurant on the beach side. The only problem with the hotel is it isn't within walking distance of the centre, they run a mini bus into Albufeira and you can get a taxi back for about 10 euros.

Alternatively we stayed at the Iberostar Anthelia in Tenerife last October - hot all year round so no problems with going early, think the flight might be 4 hours, but with a 5 year old you would be fine. Its at Costa Adeje transfer from the airport is about 20 mins, we stayed in a duplex suite so DS slept on a sofa bed downstairs and we had our own room upstairs but all under one key so no worries about him being in his own room. Hotel was lovely breakfast buffet the best I have ever had, they have kids club, heated pool, spa and is also within walking distance of beach. They also have cheesy evening entertainment which DS loved and was nice to relax to with a cocktail ( you get the theme here). I love Tenerife its very relaxing with a young child and the Anthelia is walking distance to shops and restaurant. Unfortunately DS is mini golf crazy - so this year we are going back to the quite nice apartments miles from anywhere that have an en site mini golf course!

Not sure about the noise in either case as I sleep with ear plugs.

Let me know if you want any other info.

I wouldnt take my worst enemy to Portugal!

We loved Menorca, especially cala n bosch and cuitidella.
Agree Tenerife is not all trash and lager, there are some very posh hotels in costa adeje as rookie mentioned.
Some nice areas of Majorca too, cala dor is my fave, but porto christo also lovely

Yes must admit I wasn't bowled over with Portugal mosschops - I found the restaurants either ludicrously expensive or laughably cheap and poor quality. I thought Albufeira was a bit tatty too. However I thought maybe it was because it was so hot when we went so we weren't able to experience it properly. Grande Real is a nice hotel though.

Grab a low cost flight to majorca & head for the Hotel Sol Mirlos Tordos.
These are 2 hotels side by side sharing the same facilities, but they have a Flintstones themed childrens pool with slides and jet sprays and a babies pool. Also at dinner there's a themed Flinstones part of the restaurant.
I stayed here a few years ago & the food was excellent.
Palma Nova is really nice as well.

think it probably depends on your resort. we went near lagos and really liked it and found the restaurants to be nice and also the beach fab. the one time we went to majorca - cala bona - we disliked it - rained, british stodge/cheap food type restaurants except one good one we could never get in, nasty beach...and wimpy.
