We're off to North Norfolk (a bit up the coast from Yarmouth) for a week's holiday. Where shall we go? DH is excited to the point of hysteria about Dinosaur World, which I don't even think is that close, but that's all we've got planned.

All suggestions of places to visit or to eat at that are cheap and todddler friendly would be very welcome...

All my lot love bewilderwood. They keep adding new bits too. The bewilderwood people also designed the kids area at the pigs pub.

PuppyM: is your DD quite tall? 3yo Ds was too short for many of the slides at Bewilderwood last summer (at least we paid less for his entry, too).

I think the OP mentioning North Norfolk in her opening line is what led to all the recommendations for places in North Norfolk...Grin

There's a massive fuck off area for little ones at Bewilderwood.

OP - are you going to N Norfolk?
N Norflk is the band of coast which runs horizontally along the N facing coast, and the countryside behind it.

Yarmouth is in the SE of Norfolk and on the east facing coast!

OP back again from the best holiday EVER - sorry about the delay in replying to all these brilliant suggestions (I had no signal at all the whole time I was away, so no internet).

We had such a good week and I can't believe I've never been to Norfolk before. Loads to do and DD (21m) had a ball. In case anyone else is looking (go to Norfolk! Today!) and needs ideas here's what we did...

We stayed in Horsey (apologies if that isn't North Norfolk, it sort of looked it on a map, ish) which had a beautiful, empty beach with lots of seals. We loved Cromer, the narrow guage steam railway, Dinosaur Adventure was brilliant with lots that suited DD's age, the farm bit and soft play at Wroxham Barns and all the beautiful villages and beaches between Horsey and Cromer. We went to Bewilderwood which I think was just a bit beyond DD at the moment and so we didn't really get the money's worth - this time next year and she'd love it though.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. We're going back next year and I'm going to keep all of these so we can do more next time.

Lots to do in Norfolk, i've started on a Norfolk Broads Review website.

I found many people out of Norfolk knew little or nothing about the Norfolk broads. However they are so beautiful i felt i had to start a website to promote them more. Well worth a visit if you are in Norfolk :)

Oops the link to our Norfolk site is:
Norfolk Broads Review

Wroxham is one of the biggest tourist places to go there, but some great places such as Salhouse and Ranworth are well worth a visit.

Just got back from holiday in North Norfolk. Highlights for the kids (3+4yo) were the mini steam train from Aylsham to Wroxham and then hiring a motorboat at Wroxham to pootle on the Broads for a couple hours before getting the train back to Aylsham. Actually this was my favourite day too - call me daft but I'd never realised there were trees round the Broads and north Norfolk - I thought they would be like the Fens, all flat and ugly.

Also went to see the seals at Blakeney Point - do phone up early in the morning to check the boat is running that day and there's only 60 places so book tickets if there's lots of you. And take binoculars as despite reviews saying it's like Pier 37 in San Francisco, the seals are actually about 50 feet away, not right next to the boat. The kids and I were more impressed by the Washmonster amphibious vehicle used to get from Hunstanton to the boat. And then going to the Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton and watching the seals being fed. Lovely staff explained loads to ds.

Sheringham is a lovely seaside town with great butchers, deli, and very cheap fab greengrocer, plus beach, and steam railway. Hunstanton ticked all the seaside boxes though, complete with pony rides on the beach and good crazy golf.

We didn't get to do the Snettisham deer safari though, as despite the website saying open till 5, safari takes 45min, we found the last one was in fact 2.15. We thought we'd then look at the animals etc but the morose staff told us not to bother. So we didn't. Norfolk Lavender is rather nice though, rare animal park and indoor soft play as well as tea shop, farm shop and gift shops.
