Hi, we've provisionally booked to stay in Biscarrosse SW France with Carisma holidays this summer. Ony paid a deposit so far. Not knowing that much about the area, I've gone on Trip Advisor (bad idea, probably!). Anyway, the reviews range from really good and enthusiastic and really bad and damning and nothing inbetween! HAs anyoe been? It'll be our first time doing the eurocamp-type holiday and I'm already not sure what to expect. All advice welcome!

We have stayed near there, to the South at Mesanges (Le Vieux Port Campsite) twice. We loved that area as it had lakes, mountains and a beach! We took a trip to the Dune du Pyla which is amazing - and next to an Aquapark which the kids loved.

We didn't stay at the lake as DH "needs" the sea (we only go to sites where the sea is direct access or walkable now) but friends have stayed with Siblu at Lake Bicarosse and loved it. Their kids had sailing lessons.

We took ana amzing trip into the mountains and got to ride all the chairlifts used for the skiers etc.

Oh, the sea can be very rough around there - great if you are a surfer! This is of course not a problem on the lake Grin

Thanks, Milliways. We almost booked Le Vieux Port, but we were advised to go for the Biscarosse one purely because it's our first foray into a holiday like this and the DCs are young. I would definitely want to go to Messanges in few years - it looks great! I love the sea, but you can't swim around there, can you, so I guess the lake will suit us better at the moment.

You can swim, but need to be confirdent - othertimes it is dicey to paddle!

Another year look at the South coast - warm calm sea! We have been to the Languedoc several times as it is great for swimming and things to do.

This year we are near St Tropez :)
