Right, we (DP, 10mo DD and myself)are going away to York for the night.

What in earth shall we do on the evening? DD is usually in bed for 7:30. Does that mean we need to be in the hotel room by then and all sit in the dark and silence while DD snoozes?

We are staying in a 4* hotel and there is a nice restaurant within the hotel - I was thinking about eating there at about 7 ( dd in pyjamas and in buggy) hopefully she might fall asleep and we can transfer her into bed when we're done.

Is that the done thing? We have no idea?!!

If it is a high quality hotel they may have a babysitter service so they can sit and listen to DD snore while you both go to the bar and have a laugh but still close if needed?

I personally found my DS didn't need complete silence and dark, so a table lamp and us chatting with minibar drinks and TV or maybe playing games (any sort Wink ) would not have woken him.

hmm. Apart from that not sure I have any suggestions.

I think she will be ok with us chatting and a littler light on, and i suppose if she wakes up, she wakes up!
Might keep her up a little later, I'm obsessed with bloody routines for her, I sometimes forget that it's ok to not follow it now and again! I need to relax Grin

occasional break from routine isn't bad - makes them more flexible which can be handy from time to time. :)

Hope it's a good trip.

Relax and enjoy the break...I was (and admittedly still do have my moments of being) obsessed by routine...but a wee change will do you all good. Id have wee one in PJs then can be popped straight into bed. Head out for a meal or a drink and have buggy for when bedtime calls :)

Have little one in pj's & wrapped up warm and head out! What about a river cruise? Motion of boat could even lull her to sleep?!
