How busy will Legoland be this Friday?

DD has an inset day on Friday and we are thinking of taking her to Legoland as a treat. It's about a 2hr drive from us and was hoping as it's out of school holidays it might be relatively quiet?!

DD is 5yo and 113cm tall am I right in thinking
she can go on most rides? I'm 6 months pregnant so dp will be taking her on most things!

Whenever we have been to legoland it was on an inset day and there were no queues for anything, and those were sunny days. If it is forecast to rain I imagine it would be quieter still.

I took Ds out of school for a day to go to Legoland.
We went on a Friday which ended up being quite sunny and hot.

If it is anything like our day, it might be almost deserted!! We got Exit passes for Ds (ASD) and didn't need to use them as there were no queues for anything!
We went round the Atlantis ride 3 times before we got off!!

It will start to get busier when school kicks out for all the local residents that have off-peak Merlin Passes.

Ah that sounds encouraging! We've not been before. DD is very excited. We only live 20mins from paultons park/Peppa pig world but have done it to death with annual passes so will be good to go somewhere different. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Just wondering how tricky it'll be to get there by public transport from North London. DS deeply excited but I think it'll take us about 2 hours. I've not been before. Anywhere decent to eat or am I being really fussy?

NickNacks · 03/05/2012 18:27

Inset day here on Friday for about half the schools so will be busier than other term time days.

Last Oct, we ate at the pasta place by the pirate ship. Went for the after 3pm deal. Food was ghastly - over cooked tasteless, only fizzy drinks etc . I wrote and complained and really got brushed off. Going again later in May and will eat elsewhere.

We have been on inset day and been fairly quiet. Take a picnic with you for lunch and then eat before you leave in evening. First time you can seriously spend all day there. Plenty of places to eat. Not amazing food but ok.

5madthings · 03/05/2012 18:51

inset days are great for legoland and given the weather it prob wont be busy at all!

i agree take a picnic for lunch and eat in one of their restaraunts in the evening, the often do deals where kids eat free or cheaply, have a great day!

We were there this Monday as school had an inset day.. it was a sunny day.. but was so quiet!! Longest queue was 5 mins for boating school. Didnt queue for anything else, in fact we got straight on the rides then stayed on the ride as there was no-one else waiting!!!

I would say go for it, a fab day out (when its quiet!!)

Whatevertheweather · 03/05/2012 21:44

Well we're definitely going Grin DD could hardly get herself to sleep. Shame there's other local schools with inset days but hopefully won't be mega queues. Picnic is all packed as are umbrellas just in case but the weather looks like it will be okay fingers crossed.

Is it worth paying the extra to park closer? We've managed to find bogof adult entry and have enough nectar points to get DD in. So in theory we are only paying £43 for all of us which isn't so bad.

Any other tips? The Atlantis ride looks good - will I be allowed on it 6 months pregnant?!

Can't wait!

This is a pass for under 6s that is valid on school days only (they don't advertise it much) - it's £15 for an adult and an under 6 so it may be cheaper to buy this and then one adult ticket for your DP?

I wouldn't bother with the parking thing personally

MaryBS · 03/05/2012 22:08

Atlantis is a lovely ride, but not at all rough, in fact the exact opposite, so you should be fine going on it. I love it - looking out through the portholes at the sharks and rays and other fish swimming around - gorgeous!

cece · 03/05/2012 22:15

It might be a bit busier than a normal Friday as I think quite a few schools around here have INSET days tomorrow. This is due to the school closures today for polling.

MummyPigandDaddyPig · 03/05/2012 22:42

Woozlebird. There is à direkt Green line bus from central london to the Legoland entrance or train to Slough/windsor and shuttlebus from C windsor ot LL. Check the LL website for info!

Whatevertheweather · 04/05/2012 21:19

We had a fabulous day Smile thank you for all your advice. Most rides were under 5 mins queue. Longest queues were about 20mins for The Dragon and the Laser Shooters. Park didn't feel at all crowded. Biggest hits were the water rides, Lego star wars miniland and Atlantis (no queue whatsoever went round 3 times!)
