Could you do youth hostelling? Some of them are great and it's a good age for the boys. Lots to do at night and fun. I'm up North so don't know the hostels that well near you but the yha website will give you the full info. If you ring the general sales line and ask for advice and tips they are usually very good. We're going to the Borth one in Wales this summer.

Hoseasons lodges/cottages can be good we like Captain Cooks Haven nr Whitby. Can also get private cottages at same site (no pool access though).

Not sure about 'lots' to do, sorry, but Whitby itself is very quaint, lots of interesting little shops, outdoor shops, lots of 'goth' shops, great fish 'n' chips. We love Whitby Grin

Captan Cooks haven is beside an old rail walkway, fab walks either way.

Whitby has links with Dracula, Bram Stoker was inspired by the abbey ruins (I think).

Also lots of boat trips/sea fishing, think can get coarse fishing on rivers in the area.

Scarborough nearby, good 'cheap' shops, very bucket & spade ish,

FlamingoLand zoo/theme park not far.

Robin Hoods Bay nearby great quaint little place about 1 mile from Whitby, lots of 'fossil' shops, great 'fossil hunting'. Very picturesque too if anyone into photography/painting.

Hope this helps, realise might be a bit far for you.

Hoseasons are quite good though, their website is well laid out, you can pick area then narrow down easily into places with indoor pools, allow pets, hot tubs even etc

Yorkshire Cottages are good too, have links with cottages in other areas too.

Hi its me again with the same problem! Dh is in remission :) but has just got over a 10 week scare. He has surgery in April to repair two abdominal hernias, it left him with a massive blood clot in his abdomen and its taken 10 weeks to drain! So once again we are looking for a late break............same spec. I have looked and looked and of course the best has gone. Finding it increasingly harder with three 15yr olds too!! Any ideas/bargains around please?
