Hi there,

Would love some advice on where to go on holiday. I'm a single mum of a 1 year old little girl. Looking to go somewhere with a shortish flight, not too busy but maybe a harbour, no highrise and a good number of restaurants, cafes and shops that could keep us occupied. Thought of Pollensa as it sounds lovely but would really love to get away for 3 weeks and I wonder if I'd get bored and should maybe think of a two centre holiday. Would love some advice and indeed any other suggestions on where else to go. Love Italy but live in Ireland and the only direct flight is to Pisa. Hope to hear from you.

Do you mean Puerto Pollensa? It ticks all your boxes; has lovely non tidal beach, although daily charges for sunbed and umbrella are quite high, so would be more cost effective to buy a lilo and a brolly there. There are boat trips and water taxis to take you further afield, and excursions. The local buses are good, if you want to go to the village of Pollensa inland. It is lovely with cafes and a few shops, but most places there shut for siesta in the afternoon so best done in the morning. Puerto Pollensa mostly stays open, and they have markets some days.

You must have a healthy budget if you're thinking about three weeks! My concern is that you will find that long on your own with a baby quite hard work, no R&R.

If you want to find out more about Puerto Pollensa, look at the website pollensa.com which has a wealth of info.

Thanks so much. Sorry - did indeed mean Puerto Pollensa - it does perfect. Think you are right about 3 weeks. I put her into nursery 1 day a week so I can get a break so you're probably right that it might be hard work. Having just looked at apartments the budget might dictate 2 weeks anyway.

Thanks again

You don't have to stick to 2 weeks, there are so many flights to Mallorca you can do 10, 11, 12 days instead. (At least you can from England.)

Another thing to remember is that eating out is almost as expensive as it is in the UK. Do check the website as it has good reviews of restaurants, as well as accommodation. Everywhere is toddler friendly, they expect you to bring them sleeping or not with you wherever you go.
