Hi there, can anyone give me any advice on a club med holiday? I'm looking at booking the portugal one as it looks really nice. Obviously there is the odd negative report on trip advisor but on the whole it looks good.

Just wondering if anybody has any experience of Club Med really?

I've been to the one in Hammamet, Tunisia and Beldi in Turkey... both were great, loved it, food, sports etc, the accomodation is not luxurious at all but enough space and functional and to be honest we were hardly ever in it!
We are off to Palmiyie in Turkey in 6 weeks! Each resort has different things so it depends what you are looking for? A specific sport, child care, variety of food, beach etc?

Ps book through an agent as normally a bit cheaper!

My sister has been to a few. She particularly liked the one in Marrakesh. The one in Nice that she went to last year was a bit grim by all accounts. Grubby & tired. The child bed was a mattress rammed between the bed & the wall,in the end her dh had to have a single room to sleep in so that her child could sleep in with her. She would return to Club med, just not the older ones.

We went to the one in Portugal a couple of years ago and had a great time. Good points; super easy transfer from airport, nice pool, lovely beach, food awesome. Bad points - accommodation very basic, quite naff in the 'entertainment' department, totally French ie fellow guests 90% French, 'GO's mostly French, food all French, you really wouldn't know you were in Portugal.

Small word of warning - the French aren't as precious about their children as we are and we quite often saw obviously upset toddlers being told to 'stop crying, you will see mummy later.' Now, I was admittedly all pfb at that point but I wouldn't leave the kids there. Maybe not all the same though.

We would go back!
