2 yr old with his own seat booked - would you take a car seat into the cabin?

I'm not sure if I should strap him into the car seat during the flight, or just use the regular seat.

If I used the regular seat, is there an extra harness that toddlers need?

(We could use the carseat in the USA, but we can sort that out if we don't take it. Obviously airport stuff would be easier if we didn't take it.

Hi,
we went to india with my dd last year when she was just under 2.
they have the small harness that you can attach to the seatbelt for toddlers and it worked out fine for us. there was no need for a carseat.

Which airline is it?. Have you checked their website?.

Would just use the regular seat for your 2 year old. I would not use a car seat on the aircraft as you may find that this will not actually fit the dimensions of the aircraft seat. Also such a seat would need to be additionally tethered.

Check the airline website as to whether the cat seat would be compatible with the airplane seat as it would have to be a certain size and able to be fitted with a lap belt only

Thanks all. I know that the seat does fit in the airline seat as we've done this procedure before. But with a slightly younger child, who did need the car seat.

Do the airlines provide the harnesses?

It's American Airlines (maybe using a BA plane for one leg).

we have never taken carseats on holiday with us and the children were just strapped into the seat with the lap belt provided. When they were under 2 and had to sit on your lap for take off/landing then an extra harness was provided to attach the child to the existing lap bet that the adult was wearing. No harness has been given for a child in their own seat (on the airlines we have used)

We used ours and were really glad of it, as it meant DD(8mths) could sleep comfortably and also didn't wriggle around or need holding.

Bear in mind states have different laws about car seats- we used a different one over there.
