Legoland Windsor

I was wondering if anyone could help me, I stay in Scotland and was considering taking the sleeper to london in October time to visit legoland in Windsor, I have two little boys who will be aged just under 8 and 6 years old. How far are the main stations (Victoria etc) from Windsor?
Is the new legoland hotel worth the money? I just feel that the boys might feel cheated if we book into a cheaper hotel near the park instead of the legoland on site hotel that is constantly advertising on the tv!
Any tips for me would be great.
Many thanks in advance

Legoland isn't particularly near London. The train form London Waterloo to Windosr takes at around an hour and from the station you'd need to take a bus out to the park which is set in Windsor Great Park. Other hotels would probably be in Windsor rather than near the park itself. Do you plan to combine Legoland with other activities as imho it is a bit overrated to make such a specific journey.

Hi no we were specifically going to go to London for legoland was planning a 3 day park ticket. Thought the sleeper might be good fun for the children........
Our sleeper and our park/hotel tickets would come to approx £900 this is for a 4 day trip and would not include our lunch or evening meal.

For the same price we could also get a cottage for a week in the highlands (2 hours drive away) and could take our bikes etc with us.....
So unsure, we went to Disneyland Paris 3 years ago and me and boys really enjoyed it although my husband did not think it was value for money!
What is so good about legoland? What does it have that other theme parks don't? Is that a silly question?
Thanks

Legoland was great for my 3 when they were under 11. over 11 and it isnt thrilling enough tbh. they loved not only the rides but the areas where you could play with lego/build a little car etc. not sure it is really somewhere you could spend 3 days though. we always did it easily in 3. i would look for a travelodge or similar as near as poss rather than staying on site or in london which is really too far a trek before you get started on the rides at legoland. We stayed at the Marriott (windsor/maidenhead) and had a great time as it had a pool too. We also went to chessington and stayed at the holiday inn which was good too but again 2 days only needed.

Hello OP- I am a Legoland veteran and have travelled down from Glasgow on several occasions with small boys who gradually got bigger.

We have always based ourselves in London and travelled to Legoland for the day. if you get there early and plan ahead you can see everything in a day. I would advise you to go in late June before the English schools break up.

London is great for children with parks, museums and galleries which are all free.

One thing about the sleeper is that you may not get much sleep . You get to London very early but have a long day ahead .
You will also be arriving at the start of the commuter rush hour so bags, boys and buying tickets will all take place in a busy environment just when you have got out of bed!

Have a great holiday!
When we went to LL we got the Greeline coach which takes you right to the park and has a frequent and reliable service.

That should be Greenline coach

We stayed in Slough when we went to Legoland. We spent 2 days at the park and 2 days we travelled into London with our family railcard on the fast train to paddington.

There are two train station options. You can either do Waterloo (I think) to Windsor riverside station or paddington to slough then 5 mins slough to Windsor central. You can get a fast link from paddington to slough about 20 minutes. Legoland is out of central Windsor so it would be a bus or taxi (about a 10 min car ride)

There are loads of hotels in Windsor, slough, Bracknell all of which would be fine but when you have no transport it causes an issue I should think. There is a travelodge in central Windsor next to train station actually so ideal place with kids as you then have all restaurants etc in Windsor. Then you could bus each day? Or stay at the Lego hotel. As its 42 quid each per day at Lego you can work out the hotel cost from your package. But all hotels around there an be v pricey.
We stayed at the hilton on Bracknell which was great but could be an issue with no car.
Lego is good my 3 yr DS loved it. It's not as good as Disney but then it's different but if you and they like that kind f theme park it's a great place. Not sure you need 3 days though. Hope that helps Smile
