Anyone recommend somewhere to meet up with friends in early evening with baby, buggy and bared breasts?!

Haven't tackled public breastfeeding just yet so looking for somewhere either with facilties or where I can feed discreetly, no smoking and not overly expensive...all suggestions welcome!

Centotre - Italian non-smoking restaurant on George St. Nice food (if a bit pricey) there are some booths where you could sit and feed discreetly. Not sure about changing facilities as I have only been there in pre-baby days but they must have them and there are always loads of buggies in there.

And if you're out shopping during the day, John Lewis has the best changing/feeding/parents room. Its on the top floor, and it has windows looking out towards Leith! Just go and you will see what I mean. Everywhere should have facilities like this...

Museum of Scotland is great for something to do, baby changing and cafes all inside

teuch, do you live here, or are you just visiting? If you live here it's well worth getting Edinburgh For the Under 5s, as it has endless details about changing facilities or lack thereof.

Also, please recall that it is ILLEGAL in Scotland to harrass a bfing mother. It is legal to bf in ALL locations.

Smoking will also be banned in all publicly enclosed work places - cafes, pubs, etc. from 26 March.

Wish England was as enlightened, EPIS

i'm chuffed about the ban!

Great isn't it. Also re the b/f, my friend recently visited from England and thought it was fantastic that she could do it whereever and not once did she feel uncomfortable unlike a rather unpleasant experience she had in a Chester cafe.

thanks for the suggestions - it is not so much that I need a place where I am allowed as wanting somewhere that is generally relaxed about it...

I do live here (well, West Lothian) so will try and get my hands on that under 5's you recommend (any clues?)

Est Est Est sounds like a goer! Thanks again!

When I worked in Top Shop (OK not a CAfe) all the staff were told about breast feeding policy, i.e mums could use changing room if they wished but if they wanted to sit in the middle of the shop we had to let them, don't know if all staff in all cafes are as well trained. I suppose it all about where you feel comfortable. I did avoid bright lights and totaly open places regardless of the staffs attitude.
