How do you book specific seats on a plane?

We have just brought 3 one way tickets to Melbourne with Royal Brunei.
DS will be 18 months. We have brought three seat tickets. I would love for us to have bulkhead seats.

How do I go about doing this?
The tickets were very cheap so I assume the plane will be full.

Phone the airline and ask?

Have a look at the airline's website. It should tell you how to do this.

I regularly fly with BA. The procedure for selecting seats there is that you can do so when you check-in, 24 hours before your flight. If you have small children, you can do it ?3 days beforehand. This is a free service. If you want to guarantee specific seats, you can pay £10 to do the allocation at any time.

You won't be able to use a bulkhead bassinet for an 18 month old, but I imagine are for a bit of extra space without the slope of a row in front of you.

Sometimes you can do it when you enter your passport details or as late as an online check. With BA we found we'd been preallocated seats anyway but could change it at no cost. Bear in mind seasoned travellers will knwo the procedure and will get in ahed of you. Also some seats cannot be allocated to children especially under 2's who need an extra small oxygen mask and seatbelt to sit on your lap for take off and landing.

One thing to be aware of which caught us out on our transatlantic flight - the bulkhead seats might mean that the arms are fixed because they hold the tray table and can't be raised up once the seatbelt sign is off. A bit of a pain as I'd been hoping we'd have great legroom and I'd be able to snuggle all over DP!
Maybe worth asking a few more details if you phone up...

I guessed that about the bassinet but thought bulkhead might mean he could "play" at our feet a bit.

I hadn't thought about the fixed arm rest. hummmmmmm.

Not flying for 5 months but I like to plan. :)
