Edinburgh hotels with baby-listening/baby-sitting

Trying to organise a secret holiday to celebrate DH 50th birthday in Edinburgh. Can anyone recommend a hotel that has either baby-listening or baby-sitting facilities so that us parents can go out to a fancy restaurant at night. Do such places exist?

On previous holidays we have managed to book a hotel with good quality restaurant attached. The children were in cots and there was a baby-listening service on the front desk.

They never wake and are never a problem at getting out of bed - but you never know!

When I was at the Glasgow Hilton there was a listening service that some of DH colleagues used. We had a babysitter but that was arranged by the DH's company.

Was meant to add:

So if there is a Hilton in Edinburgh they may offer a similar service.

Do double check the heating! We had baby listening at a hotel, DS was fine but when we got back to the room the heating (which had been broken but we didn't know this) was on full blast. He was only 11 weeks old so it was very scary. It was like an oven in the room.We slept with all the doors and windows open.

A babysitter in the room would have been aware of it but obviously not baby listening.

Our regular babysitter does sitting in hotels sometimes, I know. Although she is not this person , she's her friend, and they both babysit, have the same jobs and have Enhanced Disclosure Scotland and so on. I would be inclined to contact her and ask her if there's a hotel that she uses regularly. Beety used another of their friends when she came up. I would recommend them

Thanks Tamum - I have nenver come across the Families website. If references can be checked then I can't see what could go wrong.

This could be just the life-saver we were looking for :0 HUGE thanks for that info.

You're welcome She's definitely for real, and would be able to show you her disclosure certificate and so on. Have a lovely time!

Roseanne, after working in the hotel industry for many years and still connected to it now I personally would never leave my child alone in a hotel room, especially in a city such as Edinburgh. It is not safe/secure IMO as many people have acess to your room and break ins are rife.

Not saying children are likely to be snatched from hotel rooms but imagine how you'd feel if someone did break in?

People don't leave passports/handbags in hotel rooms so why leave a child?

Northener thanks for your insight - food for thought. IKWYM though. Is Edinburgh particularly bad then?

Not saying it's paticularly bad but it is a city afterall, so more risky than say a small B&B in the Lakes IYKWIM.

I'm sure the Scotsman hotel was able to arrange a babysitter when someone from our company went up there
