Hotels with family rooms AND cots in France

We're a family of four travelling to Charente Maritime in June and we'll need a night in a hotel each way. Initially I booked with B&B Hotels as they have family rooms, but after booking I had an email saying they don't have cots and as we have a cot provided in the place we're staying for two weeks I really don't want to have to take the travel cot, which takes up a ton of space in the boot, just for the two nights in hotels. So does anyone have any recommendations of hotels or chains with family rooms and cots? I estimate we'll need to stay in or near Alencon on the way down and around Rouen on the way back. Thanks!

I have really struggled with this in France too. We ended up staying at a Novotel which was obv. dearer but was a wonderful choice! They put up half the bed-settee for our older one and had a travel cot ready for the wee one, I had emailed them in advance using google translate to ask for this and they couldn't have been more helpful. None of the cheaper places I looked at let you have more than 3 in a room, baby counted towards this total.

Try the logis de france hotels. Independent hotels that are marketed together. More individual than chain hotels, we have stayed in some with cots. See www.logishotels.com/en.html

I love Novotels too.....

Thank you! I've managed to book a Novotel in Rouen for the way back, but I'm drawing a complete blank with Alencon and with the Le Mans 24 hour race happening that very weekend everything in/around Le Mans is booked solid ... Might have to go with the B&B Hotel after all and take our mini travel crib Angry So annoying for one bl**dy night out of 15!

My advice would be take your own travel cot anyway. Without exception cots in gites (OK last used a cot 10yrs ago!) have been nightmares- very shallow- more like "toddler beds" or pretty bent metal antique numbers with huge gaps to get stuck in.

Caravans we've had have had bog standard mothercare travel cots which were fine but had to go in the lounge .limiting things after the baby was in bed rather!

I think that is a big generalisation theas, it depends alot on where you are staying and how much you have paid There are loads of properties out there these days with baby kit provided, and I have never yet been dissapointed by the cots, all have been better than a travel cot.

Ah, we've been delayed at the tunnel on Le Mans weekend (well, was the Thursday just before), only benefit was our Ford Focus being parked up next to lovely Aston Martins etc!! How old is the one for the cot in case we can think of an alternative for you? I would almost be tempted to have a wee one in the big bed beside me with pillows down the side and then shove DH onto a fold-up bed or something! It's only 1 night and you're on your way to your hols so won't be too bad!

The baby will be 13 months, so yes, shoving DH into a single with DS1 and me sharing with DS2 might be an option as taking the travel cot for one night seems a ridiculous waste of boot space which could be taken up with wine instead

Lol, totally! We've also had just me and the little one to start with and then once totally fast asleep moved him in the middle and dh has squeezed in too.
