Planning on visiting over Easter, what is the house like inside and is it worth paying for the complete ticket for gardens etc? Will have 10 and 17 year old with us, was thinking of cascade bit in particular but wondered about the actual house?

The whole place is lovely and not as stuffy as a National trust place.
Still haven't got DD1s shorts clean. She sat down in the cascades and the steps are covered in algae.

We were lucky it was a beautiful late May day, and it was magic.

Thank you for that, it sounds lovely!

the 10 year old will probably still like the adventure play ground it is excellent - had a 1 yo and 5 yo when I went so don't know about the house - also went on a lovely day

I take my dd 14 and ds 4 quite regularly they both enjoy the whole place the gardens are great fun and the house feels quite relaxed. Generally we spend the whole day there easily. Hope u have a great time

I think the 17 year old could well be the hardest to please there. Too old to play in the water without friends to be 'cool' with. The adventure playground is good and should deffo keep the ten year old interested - again, no good for the 17 year old. So unless the 17 year old is generally interested in houses or gardens I suspect that it won't be much fun for him/her.

My friends and I used to love it at that age but mostly because we liked looking at wallpaper patterns etc and cuddling trees and playing 'That painting looks like Mr so and so etc and also because there were a few of us together to sit around the gardens etc!

The river nearby is great for you all to play in later, if a nice day.
