hi, i am flying with my 16 weeks old daugther alone to Chile. The shortest trip is about 20 hours.
At 4pm we get a flight to madrid then wait until midnight and then take the long 13-14 hours flight to santiago chile. I asked for the cot already. I am breatfeeding.
Any tips, reccommendations, comments? I am quite scared!!

I flew to Cental America when my DD was 4 months old and we moved out here. Don't worry yourself too much, it is actually pretty easy at that age. I think the worst part will be your long wait in Madrid. My DD slept a lot if the flight and the white noise in the aircraft helped I think. If you have a bassinet then you will be fine. It's a pain if there is turbulance as you have to take them out, bit other than that you zip them in and they sleep!

Take more nappies than you think you will need and a few changes of clothes for both of you. My DD was formula fed so I gave her a bottle for take off and a dummy to suck for landing to help with her ears, but she had no problem.

We flew to Mexico with our daughter when she was three months old. I was also breastfeeding and now having flown with her while she's on formula, breastfeeding is a lot easier if you are going to be alone - So I wouldn't worry! The flight attendants are very helpful and other people tend to be very helpful as well if you need a hand and they see that you are alone!
I agree, bring more then you think you are going to need! Especially nappies and a few changes of clothes for her. If you are using your pushchair, I'd also bring a carrier if you have one, it makes life a lot easier when you get on and off the plane - especially if they don't give you your pushchair back inbetween flights.
If you can feed her on the way up and down - it will help to equalise her ears!
This is the best time to fly with them though, dont' worry! Our daughter slept nearly the entire way to Mexico and back when we flew home. The noise and movement down the runway sends her to sleeps every time!

Have a great time!!

I flew to NZ (26 hours) on my own with DD - 2 months & she was 5 months when we returned. BF is your friend when flying with a baby - it was really a piece of cake. Use it as a time to cuddle up with your baby. Take changes of clothes for both of you - you may not need them, but you may REALLY need them.

Have you booked a bassinet?

You might find a sling handy getting on and off the plane. BEWARE at Heathrow these days (T1 at least) they don't bring your buggy to the gate ('elf & safety innit!) - you collect it with your luggage, so you will need to be able to carry baby & all your bags etc.

I think under 6 months is the perfect age to travel long haul with babies.

have fun.
