What's the cheapest way to do Disneyland Paris?

hullabaloo · 03/02/2006 23:37

Went into the travel agents to price Disneyland Paris - 3 days at the beginning of April. I was told £1341 for 2 adults and a 5yo! (hotel cheyenne) This doesn't include park tickets and obviously spending money would be on top of this.
SO - All those who have been what's the secret to doing Disney on a Budget? April 1st - 15th.

Thanks & sorry for the hijack

It really depends where you are travelling from.We have always booked independantly. We stayed at the holiday inn.Really good room rates at the minute.Check out the holiday inn website.Rates for this April are about £60 per night per room including breakfast. We then just buy our disney passes there. If you are going for 3 or 4 nights it is actually cheaper to buy a yearly pass. Not available over here. You buy them at the gate.Search for annual passess for disneyland paris.I think they are about £90 pounds with 10%discount when you buy 3.This then gives you 10% of in all the resturants. We have done this before and saved hundreds during scholl holdays.

Hi we are going to disney in about a months time,we went through disney direct and are staying for 3 nights and there is two adults and one 22month old and its costing us £262,which i think is really good.We are going on the ferry.

calpopscalum · 04/02/2006 12:32

If you have tesco vouchers trade them in for Clubcard deals tokens and you can use them with Cresta Holidays or bridge travel to apy for your Disney holiday. They're worth 4x the value of your Clubcard vouchers. (£100 of vouchers = £400 in deals tokens!) I've just costed a 3 night stay in Dec 06 for 2 adults and 2 kids (3 and 4) in the Santa fe at around £600 driving - it will be less as they're bringing out more book 2 nights get a 3rd night free deals in march.

Well worth looking into if you shop at Tesco!

To do Disney on a budget once you;re there is easy! We spent less than £200 for the 4 of us last time. Allowed the kids 1 treat each - a decoraton for the tree and we bought no other souvenirs as they were so expensive. We did eat out at restauarants but you can pick up discount vouchers on resort. There's the usual McDonalds etc where you can grab a quick cheaper bite to eat if that's your kind thing! Also the breakfasts in the hotels are continental so we also wrapped up soem rolls and ahm and had them at lunch! there's a garaage outside the Santa fe which apparently sells cheap drink and snack (alcoholica nd non!!). Didn't see that as we stayed at the Newport bay last time. if you drive, take loads of snacks and drinks etc with you - (Fruit shoots, cartons etc) as they'll be cheaper than buying on resort.

I took dd in September last year. I got a very cheap flight with easyjet into Paris - there's buses at the airport that take you to disney, I think it was around 20 euros for us both, and booked the holiday inn through their website.
Park passes we bought when there.
It cost me less than £300 in total for three days(not incluing park passes) I'd had over £700 quoted by Disney to fly and stay at the holiday inn!! I was shocked at how much cheaper I could do it myself

Polgara2 · 04/02/2006 13:46

Vicimelly - I've just booked the same way - Holiday Inn website and Easyjet flights!! Saved us a bundle. Questions - how easy is it to get the bus to hotel from airport? Do you pay on bus? How much did you pay for park tickets? These are the only things I'm not sure about - thanks in advance.

vicimelly · 04/02/2006 14:04

It's really easy to get the bus polgara, I wasn't sure either but walked out of the terminal and the bus stop was right in front of me, they were very regular aswell, we only waited 5 minutes for one. You just pay the driver when you get on the bus.
The bus takes you right into Disney via the Disney hotels, for the holiday inn you get off at Disney and then jump another bus to get to to the hotel, it's a free bus and only takes five minutes.
The park passes cost 109 euros for me and 89 for dd - they were three day passes.

HTH

xx

Thanks vicimelly - like to know what I'm doing beforehand - lessens the panic!! This is the first time out of the country with the girls and I'm determined to make sure I've thought of everything (which probably means I'll forget something really obvious ). Any tips you can think of gratefully received. Thanks

there is a campsite clled bernie riviere not far from euro disney, ith bar and swimming pool, kids clubs etc. you dont necessarily have to go for a tent - if you do go with venue holidays they are cheapest by far approx £300-400 for all of you including crossing.

if you want a caravan look up leisure directions or key camp. may cost around £600-700 fro the lot of you including crossing.

still its a shit load cheaper.

Tortington · 04/02/2006 14:36

spelled it wrong! berny riviere

they also do coach trips to euro disney from th site if your scared of the roads - but really the roads are a piece of piss.

also if you do holiday this way - please check out parc asterix - its fab fab fab, cheap, like a french alton towers but shitloads better and no queues.

vicimelly · 04/02/2006 14:40

Don't take a buggy on the free buses into the park from the hotel, I did this on the first day and it was a nightmare, they can get really crowded. The next few days I hired a buggy at Disney - much easier
Food and drink can be quite expensive in the park too, I took snacks and drinks in with me to avoid spending ridiculous ammounts, I actually think they say that you can't do this, and they do check your bags on the way in but no-one ever said anything to me about having a bag full of stuff! lol
If you want photos with the characters, I found it best to find out where they were going to be and when and get there a little before them (you can get the info from the park map) Some people were queueing for over an hour just to get pics with Mickey, ending up with I imagine very bored and frustrated kids!

Tortington · 04/02/2006 14:46

good point. we packed lots of french stick butties. and soft drinks. its very expensive in the park.

also v.good point about the characters, they appear at certain times and do autograph signings - best to take a picture of your own at that point

Skribble · 04/02/2006 19:53

If you book direct with Disney the hotel and ticket Classic package costs £553 for 2 adults plus one child in April for 3 nights/ 4days. It will depend where you are Hullaballo as to what the best way of traveling is.

We fly with Ryanair which flys into Paris Beuavai, this airport is about 1hr from Paris and you have to get a bus into Paris then get the train out to the Park (or hire a car). The Disney Shuttle buses don't pick up from Beuvais>

Normally any package booked through an agent or whoever will include park tickets if it is a disney hotel.

pollydoodle · 05/02/2006 02:24

Try talking to railbookers - they really know their stuff and always seem to have good prices on things. Plus I'm pretty sure there is a direct Eurostar to Disneyland (if not, there is a simple change to get there) which, if you can get to a Eurostar station easily in England, means that it is likely to be a much simpler and nicer journey than flying. On the eurostar site they are advertising family packages for 2 nights + train from about £100per person for 2, or £130 pp for a 3

We went on a budget in November and did the following:-

Ferry from Dover - Dunquerque (£40 return with Norfolk Line Ferries - half the price of Dover Calais and no further on the other side)

3 nights at the Holiday Inn £35 per night for a room with huge double bed and either single bed in curtained off area or bunks for children (price for me DH and DD (3) together) FAB hotel 5 mins off Disney with free shuttle bus (did take own pushchair fine) every ten minutes. Breakfast expensive there so we took our own cereal and plastic bowls to eat in our room.

3 day passes to both parks £70 adults £48 child over 3 much cheaper than we had seen direct with Disney on the web, bought in our local Disney Store in Cardiff (valid for 2 years!)

So all in all it cost us £340ish which was great as all the activities are thrown in there.

We took food into the park (supermarket nearby) and made hot chocolate in our hotel room in flasks. Merchandise MUCH more expensive there than over here e.g. the Mickey Mouse balloons you see everywhere are about £7!!!!. We bought one on the last day after we saw tons of people struggling to look after them for a whole day in the park and it got our DD safely walking towards the exit on a promise of a balloon to go home with.

You can do it on a budget, so shop around.

hullabaloo · 05/02/2006 17:45

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I knew it could be done but just wasn't sure where to start!!

Skribble we're just outside Glasgow so we'd probably fly to amke things easier (a few bad experiences on ferries - never again!) I think I'll check out Ryanair and easyjet first.

I would love to stay at the Cheyenne as DS is really into cowboys at the mo and I've stayed there before so knew what to expect. I'll investigate cheaper ways of booking that.

Sounds like ryanair would be best for you as flight suppliments alone from Scotland can be more than a Ryanair flight. If you get lucky you can get flights for 1p they do exsist honest. Just put in the first date you can go and click next day until you get good prices, but remember and add taxes. If you look at the disney price chart it seems best to avoid Saturday arrivals in April.

The first time we went with Ryan air we hired a car as I had a last minute panic when I realised Beuvais was not one of the airports that had a Disney shuttle. It was a waste as the car sat outside the hotel, but it meant we didn't have to worry about trying to get the right train. If you can read French or are quite confident with transportation its not really that bad.

My money saving tip if you want some cans of jucie or some sweets the train station at disney has vending machines. Not as cheap as the supermarket but very handy right at the entrance to 6the new bit of the park.
