We are taking our older two girls (14 & 16) to the HP Warner Bros Tour. Both are fans of the films and books and generally anything to do with the stage and screen. However, cannot decide whether to take smallest child who will just be 5 when we go. Please does anyone have any feedback for me?
Thanks

We had the same dilemma. On balance although DD (just turned 5) does love HP she has only seen the 1st three films so some of the bits from later films may be a bit scary for her, also I think she'd rush round it and dp and I want to take our time and look at/read everything so we're not going to take her. We're having an adult day on a school day instead. We're not telling her though as she would be upset.

Oh I hadn't realised it hadn't opened yet. I am thinking you are both right, the other two will not want her hanging off them when they are trying to to look round properly. I'll book mum :) thanks for posting!

Anyone else been?

Thinking of taking DD and two/three pals for her birthday in June - it is a 2hr drive and then would cost £80-£100 - however that is not so much more than a party might cost, would be worth it as long as it was really good IYSWIM. DD and her best mate are Potter-mad so that was why I thought of it...

Just back from visiting with my DC aged between 8-10.

We all thought it was brilliant, but it really depends on your DC I think. Mine were quite happy to wander around at their own pace taking photos and peering at all the props and models as well as the bigger sets. The detail is breath-taking.

Agree about the gift shop (£7 for a keyring) but we had pictures taken against the green screen and, although ££, the more you bought the cheaper they were: £12 for one, £15/2 £18/3 £20/4.

Clary · 03/04/2012 19:04

Sounds good Chippy.

The DC in question are all 11 and mad Potter fans if that makes any difference - I imagine this would be a good thing as (unlike me) they woulld know all the sets, what film etc.

How long a day was it ie a 2-hr trip? 5 hrs? In between? Just trying to gauge if it's a feasible party day out.

We have tickets booked, for ds's 8th birthday party. He is taking 2 friends. Can't wait. We are taking ds2 who is 4. We weren't going to, but ds1 INSISTED that his brother came. so dh and I agreed that if ds2 was a pain, tired, one of us would take him off, and just let the 3 8 yr olds wander as little or as much as they wanted to. This whole idea may come back to haunt me. will let you know!!

Clary · 03/04/2012 23:56

Yeah I see we need to pre-book. I'm talking about mid June, presuming I have a couple of weeks to make decision?? It won't be sold out yet will it? (well if it is we can't do it can we!)

2-3 hours sounds Ok (tho not long for that much £££ but never mind). We would set off say 10am, get there midday, leave again say 4pm, home by 6pm for pizza and sleepover, sounds like a plan!

Clary. Definitely perfect for your party of 11yo. We were there for 3 hours. Didn't stop for refreshments though, and only 5 minutes in the gift shop, so 3-4 hour total is about right. We had a picnic in the car park .

Look on the website to see what ticket slots are available. I was impressed at how uncrowded it was, and you could easily see everything.

NatashaBee - there were shuttle buses running, presumably from the station.
