does anyone have any tips for a rapid visit. I've been before and done the main sights so looking for quirky fun things and lovely tapas?

Have you been to the main market, the Boqueria? If not, GO, and pig out at one of the tapas places there (including the one with the rude name!)

I've been a few times now.

Have you done the park at Tibidado? Has some fun rides and the scariest haunted house ever!!!

The beach has some great places to eat. There are four or five smart ones right on the sand. They are all great.

The Carrer de Joesph Anslem which becomes the Carrier Ample is the road behind the main Passegi de Colom at port Vell. There are some fantastic places to eat along here. The "pink panther" bar was great. Tiny and intimate with lots of meat and cheese on the walls. Have you done the bar that is all fairy woodland? It's at the and of the road next to the wax works. Slightly odd but yummy cava.

Oh I love Barcelona! The view from Tibidado is fabulous! have you seen the music fountains on Montjuic?

When we went I prebooked a Spanish restaurant with a flamenco tableau in a sort of craft village type place. It was small and intimate, fabulous food and entertainment. I will google if you are interested.

the village was el Poble Espanyol, I remember now!

Hum, let me see, 48 hours, and fun.... the funicular over the bay? A bike tour? the shoko? first chill out than dance? www.shoko.biz/, one of the plazas in Gracia?
or best: take the ferry, go to Ibiza and have a 48h party!!

Ah yes Shoko was the one we ate at.

In the UK lunch at a somewhere that becomes a nightclub would be disgusting and overpriced. Shoko by day looks like a lovely beach side restaurant (no bottles, beer stained floor or dubious smells here) and we had an amazing steak and foie gras and a three course set meal of fish for less than E20 each. In addition the waitress insisted I "stay longer" to finish my drink because I might feel like the dessert in half an hour. Can you imagine anyone in the UK wanting you to take up a seat to eat a pudding you have already paid for and was happy to leave!!
