Hello, off on first trip to canada alone with dd and I'm trying to have everything clear in my mind. She will be 7 months at time of travel. It's an early morning flight 8.30am from Glasgow so we will be at airport early. My plan is to pack food to take on plane with us, but my mind is blank if it's allowed? I was thinking a few unopened jars/pouches of food/fruit, cup of water (Obv under 100ml) and maybe some bread/cheese sandwich. Will this be allowed? I know there is a boots than I can buy from and I plan to phone them a few weeks before to ask about milk cartons. I'm flying from Glasgow to London at end of month with dd so will have a proper look as to what they have on offer then. Any advice, experience is welcome!!

As i remember they have baby food on board for most long haul flights...which they will warm....you won't need bread and cheese because you'll be given meals surely?

I took a tin of baby milk and they were fine...it was powdered...cartons will be fine I am sure. If were you I would check with the airline if you would prefer your own jars of baby food.

You can certainly take food on a plane but would also suggest you buy the bottled water post security (you will not be permitted to take anything more than 100ml through the security checkpoint). You are allowed to take enough foodstuffs for the duration of the flight. Any uneaten fruit should be left behind on the aircraft.

Airline food for adults, let alone babies, can be variable in quality and quantity to say the very least so do not rely on the airline to fully provide. I always take something to eat for us all and am always glad that I have.

We flew with Thomson last autumn and were allowed to take whatever we needed for the babies, within reason. We took Ella's pouches and filled sippy cups - there was no 100ml restriction if it was for baby during the flight. They did make my husband have a drink from the sippy cup, which was quite amusing to watch :)

If i were you, I'd give the airport a ring. There might also be a lot of information on the airport website - print it off to take with you on case you get security staff who try to apply normal non-baby rules.

Hope you have a good trip :)

Thanks Smile

I haven't booked a seat for dd therefore she gets no meal. That's great to know though that I can pack plenty for her. Will also do that with the bottled water. Never thought if that! Thanks again
