Uv suits & flotation jackets

Back in here to Ask another frightened traveller question...
Off to Portugal in a few weeks with dd who will be around 18 months. Want to get a couple of uv suits for the beach & pool. Obviously she won't be off swimming herself or anything but out swimming teacher has suggested we get a vest thing rather than arm bands. So have seen a uv suit with built in floatations device but wondering if u get it/ something separate. I think the Vest thing would just be for a bit of peace of mind rather than anything else.

Can anyone recommend suits/ this kind of flotation vest or if I am just getting myself in a flap about nowt? Confused

personally i don't like the vests - it puts them in the wrong position for bobbing around (makes them flat more than upright). Get them a UV suit (M & S has lovely ones) and a pair or armbands.

I would get a separate vest because you can reuse it then with different cossies uv suits are great to but I would get a two piece one so you can change bums quickly HtH

I saw an inflatable UV suit in ELC the other day. I was thinking of getting one for DS. It's a proper all in one thing, but with pockets that you can blow it up, as much or as little as you need to. Anyone tried one of these? There must be a downside to it (it's £20, but in a 3 for 2 deal at the mo). Thought it looked like a good idea though.

I am thinking about getting my DS a bouyancy vest for our holiday in July. He'll be 18months.

I found one on amazon that looks really good. I have UV suits at the ready as he is really fair like me so want to make sure he is covered. But the vest is really for my peace of mind. We are renting a villa that has an unfenced pool. I dont like arm bands as the little buggers darlings can get them off too easy!!

I agree with Hersetta.

I bought DS one of those separate vest things but it made him tip forwards which was a nightmare. Armbands were much more successful.

I buy UV suits from Debenhams, M&S or John Lewis. They usually come with a matching hat which is always a selling point for me!

At 18 months I found a vest the best thing and you can pop them in a ring with a vest on too! DS used to love his and we had great fun pulling him round the pool in a ring.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Wink

I've used the jakabel floatation suits, they really seem to allow your child to try bobbing about by themselves whilst giving some uv protection.
