Does anyone have any experience in travelling to Colombia (or similar country) with less than a 1 year old? We would like to go and visit daddy's relatives in Bogota (maybe Cartagena and Medellin, too) but I'm a little worried about giving my daughter so many vaccinations for that. According to my GP nurse, she would need to be protected against yellow fever, malaria, Hepatitis A & B and typhoid.
Looking at this travel vaccinations website:
www.mdtravelhealth.com/destinations/samerica/colombia.php
it looks like that if I stay in Bogota only, I don't need the yellow fever vaccination after all - which is a bit of a relief as is it a live vaccine and particularly harsh one on a baby and adult alike. But does anyone know how reliable this 'MD Travel Health' site is?
I'm breastfeeding her but I've never lived or visited Colombia before in my life. Which means, according to the aforementioned nurse - that she won't get any immunity for local diseases in there from my breast milk.
Would it be better to wait until she's a bit older, at least over 1 year, or am I over worrying/cautious mum?
