I wondered if I could take a nice bottle of wine on board to drink to celebrate our anniversary on the way to NY rather than drinking the rubbish they will give us!

Anyway may not go now as dh just called me whinging for england that he is tired and he wished that we were going somewhere more relaxing

This is from the man who when I was booking said we couldn't go to the caribbean again as it was too boring

Honestly, men, tsk

I told him I would call and cancel the trip

Where are you going?

Being dumped off in Iceland isn't a bad outcome, it's a lovely place!

(Sorry I can't be more help. I don't find drinking on planes pleasant.)

Oh, not to hijack your thread, but what's a Pernand-Vergellesses or similar? Had a glass of one at Fat Duck, and liked it. DH bought a bottle of the same appelation (not same brand, although will try to get), and we liked that too. Is it unbearably naff? Or have we found a wine we both like that can be drunk in public without looking like yobs?

CountessDracula · 27/01/2006 10:37

It's burgundy, not often my cup of tea but v acceptable I should imagine! Google it....

Honestly my dh needs a good slap sometimes!

i have a feeling its against aviation regulations to drink your own on flights? However I am basing that on seeing an episode of Airline while trapped at MILs.

CountessDracula · 27/01/2006 10:44

hmm probably true spose I should call them

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 27/01/2006 13:11

They're probably twitchy about it because it increases the risk of drunkenness and "air rage"? I think most people who want to drink their own booze on planes are doing it out of drunkenness etc, not distaste for the poor quality of airline wines.

CountessDracula · 27/01/2006 15:11

oh no I really don't want to get drunk! Arrgghh bad enough jet lag without a hangover too

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 27/01/2006 15:47

I know, I know. But fear of drunkenness is probably the reason behind the rules.

You might be able to get an exemption? Or you might be able to get around it by asking the staff on board ...

NotQuiteCockney · 27/01/2006 15:49

Wait! I have a relevant link . It even talks about AA. You should be fine.

NotQuiteCockney · 27/01/2006 15:49

It is written by someone mad, but still.
