Flying ryan air/easy jet-is it worth paying to get on plane first?

Two hour flight. Five of us including baby. Never flown as family before. We're wondering whether to pay the supplement that gets us on the plane first or whether we'll do fine without it. Any advice welcomed.

If you have a baby, Easyjet will let you board first, anyway. They tend to let the priority people first, then families with under 5's and then the rest. I wouldn't pay extra for it. In fact, I have never paid for it, and I have always sat with DS. He's 8 and we fly Easyjet about 6 times a year.

Six, three and will be ten months when we fly. It is quite a lot to pay if families board first-although maybe the budgets will take hard cash over family priority!

We flew Ryanair with a 3 and 5 year old. Bloody awful. Had to fight our way through other passengers to board!

If it is ryanair I would say definately yes. There is no priority for anyone other than those who pay. We flew when the dds were 3yo & 18 months & on the way home got pushed to the end of the queue by lots of rude & aggressive people & when we got on there was nowhere for us to sit together & they had to move someone so that dd1 & i could sit together. There was no overhead locker space so they took all our hand luggage, including all the kids stuff and (we realised later) our passports and put it in the hold. I'm still cross about it now!

I wouldn't pay, AND I get on last as kids, particularly ds with ASD find it difficult to sit in one place for long so I need to time the seatbelt bit.

I have sympathy for those who have to move but take no responsibility for it. The airline knows we're coming ffs.

I would say Easyjet no need, they board families with young children before the masses.

Ryanair is a different story especially if you're flying from Rzeszow where it resembles a fucking scrum to get on the plane

mousymouseafraidofdogs · 19/02/2012 21:56

I refuse to pay. never any problems with easyjet, only once had to sit separately (me with one dc and dh with the other) on a flight from poland. but the pushing/running there was something else. just try to be there early and be assertive.
