What buggy to take on 2 weeks holiday

I would appreciate your advice on what buggy to take on 2 weeks holiday in Tenerife. My daughter is 15 months and walks quite well and I have Mountain buggy which is all terrain and MacLaren. I can't decide if I can live with Maclaren on beach holiday. I am travelling alone and the large buggy is such a pain to take, also need large car booth and I am limited with car rentals and taxis..On the other hand it is excellent on the beach and she could nap there very nicely when out and about during lunch. Maclaren is great lightweight, I can handle it with one hand but does not go down more that 1/3 so napping is not so comfortable and of course I can push it only on good ground. Any advice from experienced mum travellers?? Thanks so much!

Unless your daughter will desperately need to be in the stroller when you are walking on the beach or napping - a heavy buggy is the bane of a traveller's existence and should be avoided at all cost.

If you are expecting very long walks on the beach or walking on a lot of rough terrain then maybe consider it but most of the time it will just get in the way.

What nearly said. I have always taken maclaren quest travelling as light/durable nature makes up for fact it is not as sleek. If you can bring nice blankets/something to drape to shade sun , kids can usually sleep in it even If not reclined. Plus they tend to survive the rough and tumble of airline hold.

When I went to Tenerife with my DD at that age, I took a Maclaren. It's not ideal on rough ground, but the lightness and compactness easily made up for that.

I would suggest getting the cheapest buggy you can find and treating it as disposable. The baggage handlers throw them off the planes. I have collected broken ones from the baggage reclaim more than once.

Thanks a lot!

I have taken a Maclaren XT on one holiday and a bugaboo cameleon on another.

Bugaboo wins hands down for me. DD slept so much better in it. Much more relaxing!

I agree with seasickgal,

Go for one that can recline for sleeping but go for cheap and cheerful OR make sure it's covered in your insurance when you pick up the pieces at the carousel!!!

Agree with seasick the baggage handlers can throw them about. We bought an almost fully reclining Hauck sports buggy £25 from asda direct....it was ace! Lots of storage space under it and big hood to cover bubs from the sun. Not sure if it's still on sale but there are lots of similar ones on various websites. Recline was a must for the evening walks nd day naps, he was 4/5 months at the time. We went to gran canaria and it survived the large kerbs, beach etc.

Have a fab holiday!
