Norfolk Days out at Easter - NR13 (so Norwich across to the Broads)

I'm being a bit lazy here, but I just was after a general response from folk who live in the area. We are off to stay in this area over the Easter Weekend. So get there Friday, leave on Monday.

I'm not really hoping for beach weather - so ruling that out (although the kit will be packed just in case!)

We have a 2yr old and a 5 yr old.

I thought Saturday we could do the Dinosaur Park - is that good value? They have Tesco deals for it.

The Sunday is covered for DH and the 5 year old as I've booked them on a Swallows and Amazons Day with theCanoeman.

Once I've dropped them off, I'd like to take my 2yo somewhere he'll enjoy. He's very outgoing and energetic. Likes most things. Quite hard work LOL so nowhere that I'll lose him in the crowds! I was looking at Banham Zoo or Africa Alive. (again because of Tesco vouchers) - are these suitable for a littlie? I wanted to avoid a buggy if poss but that might be a bit optimistic.

Also wondering about the Friday and the Monday. I'm sure there will be Easter Egg trails somewhere that might be good for the Friday afternoon after we arrive - anyone know?

And what might be good for half the day Monday after we've left our guest house but dont want to make our way home (which will probably be around 1pm so the little one can sleep in the car)

thanks in advance.

Dinosaur Adventure is fab but pricey - use the Tesco vouchers
Banham Zoo a bit rubbish imo
Sheringham Park or Blickling Hall (both National Trust) great for a run around - may well have Easter activities on
Pettitts has plenty for little ones
Bewilderwood prob a good idea for the 2yo as little ones go free but check the website as they do it by height not age
Wroxham Barns - has a petting zoo, soft play and outdoor rides though rides are shut atm so check the website
Ranworth and Barton Broad boardwalks

Is the Inspire Discovery Centre still open? www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/family-fun/Inspire_Discovery_Centre/865 A reasonable wet day option in Norwich.
Norwich Castle and Museum is good. And you get in for £1 for the last hour of opening.
You can hire a boat for the day on the Broads.

thank you so much for the feedback. The Inspire Discovery centre was closed last year :(

I dont think I'd dare take my 2yr old on a boat. Hes a bit of an escape artist lol ;)

Dino park good.
Bewilderwood doesn't have much 2yo can do, you'll spend huge amount of time repeatedly saying "You can't go down that slide"; I wouldn't do it.
Hoveton Hall often has events on, like Easter Egg hunts.
Bure Valley Railway! You can walk most of one way & catch the train back.
Sea Palling beach if weather good.
Africa Alive is good & firm favourite. DC like Banham zoo but I haven't been there.
Cromer Zoo (Amazona) is closer(?) & DC quite like it, buy tix online to save money.
Pettitts is perfect for both ages.

thanks. no you're right I think Bewilderwood is out. I take DS2 to the local park and stress about his insistence on clambering up frames that are way too high/dangerous for him, and I dont particularly want to spend my time on rope bridges at dizzying heights trotting around after him...

I think we'll also def. do an easter egg hunt on the friday. there seem to be lots around, including the onees mentioned here, but as we're national trust members we will probably go for one at one of those venues...

Dino Park - will definately use the tesco deals for that then. We can all go on the Saturday.

Sunday when I have the 2yo to myself - I think we might do pettitts. DS2 will be free so I'll just have to pay for me. It looks right up his street!

I like the sound of the railway, but having attempted it last summer on the isle of wight, I'm ruling it out as the kids quickly bored of it and got all fidgety and annoying!

So thats the full itinery complete - apart from the Monday. Might do africa alive that day but I suspect we'll have had enough 'activity' by then and just want to go mooch somewhere. maybe to Norwich castle or something. thanks for the input folks!

Bewilderwood is amazing! Even for a two year old as there are lots of areas for smaller kids and the freedom to run is great. You may have to pull them off some of the big kid things but there are lots that they can do and the interactive story telling is great. The food is wonderful and the face painting like nothin you have ever seen. We have been several times and absolutey love it.

Banham zoo is very accessible for little ones and I have heard very positive things about Africa Alive although I havent been.

Bressingham is ok but a bit tired. You can use tesco vouchers there though so not bad as a half day but I would not pay full price.

Have fun x
