DH and I are considering this as a holiday this year. Which one is best and what extras do you need to pay for?

I like Elvenden and Longleat.
Pretty much everything you have to pay for except the swimming pool.

Nope the swimming pool is seperate, but there is a jacuzzi type pool located around the main pool with rapids and a wave machine plus slides and shoots. And a little tots pool too.
If you book any activities they are extra price excep only a few freebies.
If you do book then makes sure you book the treatments up in advance over the phone to avoid dissapointment.

There are soft play areas in the spots cafe and a little children play area outside.
Longleat is closer but I prefer Elveden as it is flat and you can hire bikes and get a trailer fiited on the back for little ones.

We were thinking of booking an executive villa as they have a spa bath. How do you rate them. Do you have any say on their lcation within a park?

Wow, an executive villa, we could only DREAM of that! Really, we are thinking of splashing out on a comfort PLUS this year!

We've only been to Sherwood Forest and what was an Oasis nr Penrith, since taken over by Center Parcs. Always had a lovely time, but comfort accommodation is sort of adequate but basic - not luxurious.

Also, hardly ever pay for extras for children as there seems to be enough free stuff for our two - starting with baby dolphins first thing on Saturday before swimming pool generally open, so not so noisy, then before you know it, it's time to go back for lunch.

Loads of wildlife to look out for - ducks, swans, rabbits, squirrels. At least one well equipped children's playground.

Do plan to use a bike - we take what we have, but you can hire everything for adults, children and babies - lots of young ones love sitting in (enclosed) bike trailer that you can hire, but I'd check before hand what you should do for 9mth old...

There are loads of organised and creche type things that you can book but we've never got around to it and never missed it. But we've always gone with family or friends who can do a little babysitting - oh you can hire babysitters, but probably not so cheap.

Do do try the Aquasana if you can, really good value and never seen it busy, - at Sherwood Forest there must be at least 9 different sauna rooms, as well as foot spa, small pool...

Hope you all have a lovely time.

Sorry for length of last message - and didn't mention that it hardly seems to matter where you are in the parc - never that far from main facilites, and the really central villas are reserved for elderly/disabled etc I think...

2dds · 22/01/2006 22:29

Thanks for your advice. Does anyone else have any other tips?
