I seem to remember that I can not. Does anyone know?
Baby due in July and planning family trip to Scotland in August. Is it possible to book the ticket with unborm baby? It will not actually need a seat of it's own but will be sitting with me.
oh. and another silly question will the baby need a passport to go to Scotland?
Thanks,
Dangirl

yes, I booked ticket for unborn baby in June for Dec travel, and baby was born in septmenber. I had to phone agents up when baby was born andn provide details\
don't think you need a passport for scotland !

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 17/01/2006 20:00

yes you can, just make up a name which you can change if nec.

no passport but a lot of airlines require a photo id - most let you away with a birth cert for the first few months - but ask first

What is the recommendation for the earliest a new born can fly though, (thought it was 12 weeks)?

hana · 17/01/2006 20:08

no it's eaerlier than that, but not sure how many weeks
my sisters baby was 7 weeks and flew short haul within canada during the summer

SoupDragon · 17/01/2006 20:11

6 I think. And there are recommendations for the mother too IIRC.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2006 20:13

I think it depends on the airline actually.

LIZS · 17/01/2006 20:31

Think Easyjet won't take them before 2weeks , assuming normal delivery etc.

I booked for ds2 last Feb, putting him down as Infant X. We had to contact them and let them know his name when born. He was 8 weeks when we flew to Greece. Just like hand luggage at that age!

BonyM · 17/01/2006 20:38

We did - booked with BA a few months before dd2 was born and just had to ring them with her name and date of birth once we knew it.

Thank you very much boys and girls

We bought an electronic ticket for us and our unborn baby before flying to France. As soon as baby was born we confirmed name and birthdate and showed up at the airport when baby was 3 weeks old... THEY DON'T TAKE ELECTRONIC TICKETS FOR BABIES---- SO DO CHECK UP WITH YOUR AIRLINE! They did manage to get us a paper ticket for baby... after seeing all my tears (I wanted to show deseperatly my little one to my family!). SO AGAIN CHECK WITH YOUR AIRLINE IF THEY TAKE ELECTRONIC TICKETS!!!!
