Thats it really.
Dd has bought the ticket, found passport and is looking into cheap return flights, but needs running around money for four days (food/camping).Does anyone have any ideas how much is reasonable to take (its spain)?
H says dd needs a credit card for emergencies (she doesnt have one-17)i say its not a good idea, can she just have euros or do they still do travellers cheques? I havent been abroad for ages so advice would be lovely. Thanks

Is it Bennicassim? If so I'm well jel!

I would say to allow at least the equivalent of £50 per day, possibly quite a bit more depending if she has transport costs while there etc. Also, is she likely to be drinking alcohol? I'm not sure what the age limit is in Spain. If she will be drinking then make sure she -) knows her limits and b) has enough money that she won't be spending her food money on beer iyswim.

I'd take a combination of Euros in cash and my credit card. If you're not keen on the idea of her taking an actual credit card can you load one of those travel card ones for her? And make sure you have emergency funds you can transfer if necessary.

You can get pre paid travel cards from Tesco bureau de change (or Thomas Cook or whatever, probably), but get two for the same account, so you can top up over here and she can draw out cash there. They work at most ATMS.

MAKE SURE she has her EH11 card. I nearly killed myself of dehydration at coachella from drinking too much then waking up in a tent in 110 degree heat. I'm sure your daughter won't be as silly as me though.

Hi Choc and JP thanks a lot for the info.

Yes it is Bennicassim, ive never heard about it , but apparently its the bees knees , if you ar a young person (I am so very very old!), so if she has about £100 in euros and two 150 prepaid travel cards (again something i'dde not heard of)

Good idea about the health card, ill seee if i can dig it out.

Any more ideas about going to Bennicassim?

I'm only going on friend's reports but I think Jenny's advice about dehydration is a good point. I know several people who have ended up quite ill due to drinking like they would at a UK festival but in the heat on the beach.

General festival advice - get a she-wee, take a torch, don't leave stuff in your tent, - I usually have an over the body bag and this will probably especially apply to your daughter as she will need to keep her passport with her too, try and stay with your mates as much as possible - it's so easy to get lost in a big crowd even if you just pop to the loo. The advice they give at Glasto is that a healthy adult should do something like 3-5 wees a day. If you're doing less than this you should drink more water. Andd don't choose a festival to experiment with drugs, you're in an unfamiliar environment to start with!

I really am jealous. I'd love to do a festival this year as missed the last two years due to pregnancy and small baby. I'm off to investigate baby friendly festivals (or see if I can leave DP at home and join your daughter!).
