Which visa for Australia? Could those who have visited for holidays recently help me out please?

OK - just been on the Australian gov website and their 'Visa Wizard' tool tells me that we could have 2 different types of visa - an 'evisitor' which is free, or a 'Tourist' visa, which costs £75 each. Both seem to allow you to stay for the same amount of time...so why wouldn't I get the free one?? Am slightly nervous that there is a catch and we will get turned away at the border! Can someone who has travelled for a holiday there recently from the UK tell me what type you got and why?

This is from the Foreign Office website on Australia and entry requirements

"Entry Requirements - Visas
Visas are required for all travel to Australia. British citizens can obtain the following types of electronic visitor visa:

?an eVisitor visa direct from the Department of Immigration & Citizenship. There is no visa application charge or service fee for this;

?an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) via their travel agent or airline. There is no visa application charge, but a service fee of A$20 applies

Information on all other types of visa is available from the Department of Immigration & Citizenship, or from the Australian High Commission in London".

We each had an ETA.

Thanks Attila. All the digging we have done seems to point to the evisitor doing the job, but is so confusing when they have another one that does exactly the same thing for people from the UK!
