France help needed please - Disneyland Paris + gite

..am a France virgin and having done some online research, am now even more confused!
I'm looking to travel from UK to France, wish list includes 2 days at Disneyland Paris, a day or two in Paris itself, then a week in a gite somewhere with coastal access. Not keen on driving all the way from UK as only one of us drives. Budget is a big consideration. There are 4 of us, 2 adults, 2 young children.

So, do we fly to Paris, do city/DLP then hire a car and drive to eg Charentes Maritime? Then flight back to UK from eg Bordeaux? How on earth do I make any sense of the DLP offers/options?

Any help or advice very gratefully received!

Where are you travelling from in the UK. If it is in the South I would drive yourself. Three easy hours from Calais to DLP. We have crossed on Eurotunnel and then stayed in the Ibis at the tunnel in Calais as a way of breaking the journey.
It is dead easy to get into central Paris from DLP resort so I would base your whole 4 days there.
Have you thought about resorts like St Valery sur Somme, Le Touquet or Le Croty in the Picardie region so on your way back to Calais.

Hi, thanks for the info, we're a few hours drive north of Kent though. Good tip about the Calais Ibis though, that would be a way to do it. Hadn't considered Picardie before as we'll be travelling early June so will be chasing the sun, but I'll certainly look into it now (and the climate stats!).

Agree with Lizcat. Don't see the point in driving so far to the Charentes Maritime when there are lovely areas closer to Calais. Particularly when just one of you drives.

And staying in Disneyland and travelling into Paris is a good idea, if you can get the DC past Disneyland onto the train into town.

Have to say last year at that time the weather was better north than it was round bordeaux.

Thanks Mme Reindor and Lizcat, I am now looking further North, thanks for the advice Smile

Charente Maritime is so lovely, and more chance of sun!!! A long drive though!!

For DLP, have you considered staying in a nearby 'bed factory' instead of a Disney hotel? They are usually very clean and very cheap, huge saving on a Disney hotel, but obviously no Disney experience!
I'd also recommend looking at sawdays site for accommodation.
