3-Week Easter Holiday With Childcare for a 1.5year child?

I've realised I now need to panic about this, a bit.

What we're looking for:

  • We have to be away for three weeks. (building work)
  • We don't ski
  • I don't want longhaul
  • I don't mind if it's a bit cool out.
  • I want to be able to have a morning off, a few times per week, from both kids (DS1 is 4.5, DS2 is 1.5.) This is really important, as DH will be coming back to the UK during the holiday. Clubs are better, as both my boys are happiest in a scrum.
  • In france, or in french, is great, preferred even.

I can't seem to find anything on the Simply Travel website. Pierre et Vacances looks nice, but doesn't seem to do clubs for under-3s.

Do you need to be abroad. How about travelling round the UK and spending some time here...

check out calcot manor in Gloucesershire and link{http://www.woolacombe-bay-hotel.co.uk\woolacombe bay hotel in Devon}

not definite that they offer childcare when you want it

you can also find other places I'm sure

Sometimes its nice to explore the country you live in

if not, does Mark Warner have nothing

AlmostAnAngel · 08/01/2006 09:14

vauxhall holiday park in gt yarmouth offer a day nursery for free. its pretty good, my kids love it. i have popped dd1 in there when i wanted to get my haircut. (they had a hairdressers on site)

Twiglett · 08/01/2006 09:17

oh he does that to me too .. last weekend on his lie in I left him alone till he got up and moseyed downstairs around ten-thirty

on mine .. he brought me up tea and a bacon toastie at 9am

it is very difficult to get cross when faced with breakfast in bed

I'd rather be at least a bit abroad, so it's a bit warmer. (Also, with better food ...)

I think Mark Warner do ski, or longhaul at this time of year, rather than Greece or Canary Islands or anything reasonably local ...

I think I've found a Pierre et Vacances with childcare from 3 months. Will ask a Parisian friend what he knows about them ...

What about Austria, have a look at www.kinderhotels.com (also in english). This is a group of privately owned hotels that provide specialist childrens facilities, all with childcare included in the cost. Many of the hotels have indoor pools and leisure complexes. Lack of German should not be a problem as english is fairly widely spoken. Loads to do in the snow without skiing, having said that easter is late so snow may not be an issue.

Also have a look at www.farmholidays.com, there are a whole range that specialise in childrens holidays, many with childcare.

It is unlikely that the Pierre et Vacances centre has English speaking child care which may be a huge put-off for your children.

NQC - Mark Warner have just opened a new place in Portugal which has the childcare and I believe runs from the Easter hols. It doesn't do the evening baby listening service, though there is an evening creche. I've bumped into a few work widows whilst on holidays with them.

NotQuiteCockney · 09/01/2006 08:18

Oooh, thanks ladymuck.

Dee, I was planning on asking them about that. I'm ok about it all being in French, but DS1 certainly wouldn't be cheerful about it. (He has been dumped in a French environment before, but some of the teenagers running the camp spoke English.) I dunno, though, some French immersion wouldn't go amiss at his age.
