thinking of booking to go (as they have 25% off). Was wondering though, our villa will be right on the outskirts (cheap ones!!) is this far from all the food places and entertainment? If so are we expected to walk or do they have transport?

hope this makes sense! thanks

I would just higher bikes or take your own, its all part of the fun riding around on bikes i think. Elvedon is not hilly either so its not to much hard work

cupcakes · 06/01/2006 18:33

Yes, you have to walk or bike to the main area. The spa and country club are on the outskirts too so you might be near them (we were). Although it all looks quite far on the map it feels smaller in reality and the walks always seemed pleasant and never overly long - but still not close enough to nip back if you'd forgotton anything.

You should be able to see a map on there site i think, the eatig places are in the main complex, but there is also a few other places like down by the golf course so not just in one place!

thanks guys - it is my mum that I am concerned about - she has arthritis (sp?) how long does it take to walk in?

have you asked for a de=isabled villa

Mum2OneAndBump · 06/01/2006 18:41

To be honest i would not walk in or if you intend to i would get a villa quite close by.

Mum2OneAndBump · 06/01/2006 18:42

which villas are you looking at?

emily05 · 06/01/2006 20:43

I am looking at the basic villas and then the nicer ones (with the hydra bath!)

If you guys could be located anywhere - would would you choose? ie. near the centre where the stuff is - near the hotel, spa - iyswim

So called luxury villa was a hovel. Lake view was only if you had x-ray eyes and could see through 100 feet of trees. Staff were rude. Food in "restaurants" was lousy. Swimming pool was closed 6 times in the 3 days we were there for health and safety issues. Customer care manager was rude, obnoxious and stupid.

Need I go on???......

Felt I should add something here having been to Elveden Forest a few weeks ago. Yep, the villas are basic, but what do you want? We went because DH and I wnated to spend time together as a family with our DS (3 months) that was not spent in our flat! The location was beautiful - totally surrounded by trees and though the villa was basic, it was spotlessly clean. We too were on the outskirts as this was all they had left, but we enjoyed the 10-15 minute walk to the centre of things - and if we returned we would book on the outskirts again as being nearer to the centre also means you're nearer everyone else and they walk past your villa more often! Stuff there is EXPENSIVE though - so take your own food - most of the restaurants are RUBBISH, so we wouldn't advise eating in them. But, if you can, get to the revolving restaurant, La Sapiniere. We got a babysitter (she was a responsible lovley mature lady - they charge £5per hour) and had one of the most fantastic meals of our lives there - I'm not kidding - it was easily equal to the meals we've had at the Sanderson Hotel restaurant - worth every one of the £100 or so pennies!

The bike ride in is about 5 mins from the outskirts (once on teh bike) however it is worth asking for a disabled villa that maybe closer in.

With CP it depends what you want from a holiday, and how you play the game. Food in restaurants isn't great, except Sapinere, some people have told me the indian is good too, but I haven't tried it. Poolside cafe is OK for lunches (big portions we found one kids meal suited 2 smallish kids!) and then we ate in in the evening. Activities are pricey, Spa is a must do, they give you a 3 hr slot, but don't chuck you out so you can stay all day! Cinema is fun and good value with a huge bag of sweet per child Pool is great too. Last time we did spa, pool and cinema and nothing much else bar chilling out, playing games and cycling around a lot.

Have fun
