Kids clubs seem to be in the main for 4 years plus. Mine will be 3.7 yrs when we go on hols - do they check passport for ages? Is it that they are only insured for kids of over 4?

I think they might checking booking forms.... I know they do this at centre parcs!

WigWamBam · 05/01/2006 10:50

It's an insurance thing, I think - he wouldn't be covered by their insurance if he was younger than the age they are insured for.

it might be to do with staff / child ratio also. Plus insurance, plus age appropriate/safe activities.

Don't think I would risk it. They might check against your booking form and see that you have lied, IF anything happens to one of your kids (God forbid) it will probably turn out that they are not insured and also most kids clubs are banded into age groups so your 3 1/2 year olds will end up with 4-6 year olds and probably not with as good a ratio as the under 4s should have. Some Mark Warner, Neilson and Club Med resorts do younger kids clubs but you might not want to spend that much money on your holiday.

when we went on holiday, my youngest daughter was about to be split from her older brother and sister-they're all 12 months apart. we asked if it was possible that she could go in with her brother and sister and they told us they could do either. in other words, if my "older"kids wanted to go in with the younger ones that would be fine too! they're a reputable company and very responsible so maybe it's worth just asking!

I am sure this is an insurance thing and staff/ child ratios.

TBH, some of the kids clubs can be a bit overwhelming for some smaller children. Mine didn't cope with the ones at Canvas until they were a bit older.

DS loved the kids club in turkey earlier this year - although he did make a best friend on the first day who went to it as well which made all the difference.

It would mean that child is not covered by clubs insurance, sorry pet hate people who lie about childrens ages having worked at kids clubs. Often parents insist children are older, means the activities are just a little bit too old for them and being even just a few months younger at this age means more looking after.
