Bil is getting married in feb in Paris and all of the above are going. Wedding will be near arc de triomphe but we'd like to stay near gard du nord or the 9th (problem with taking car seats with and I'd like to minimise attempts at the metro with a double buggy - any tips on that gratefully received!). So does anyone know any good family friendly hotels around there that don't cost the earth and how big a room do you need to get 2 cots in (double or triple?).

Hi,
I would ask people on the TA Paris forum - they should be able to help.

Gare du nord Area is pretty grim.

I've done Paris with my youngest this year and we stayed near La Bastille/Marais 11ieme at this brilliant Appart'Hotel. Nice kitchenette for breakfast/snacks, 2 supermarkets close by to stock up on Nutella and Crepes everyday basics. Bright, Clean Studios as well.

Also, get a bus map, they are very good for sight seeing and a lot more child friendly.

This is a recommended family run 2 star hotel in a good location in the Latin Quarter.

If you look at the thread about Hotels in Paris, Wigglesrock has just stayed there and said they had a great time.

If I was taking young children, I would use the Hop On/ Off buses for sightseeing, and take a lightweight folding buggy for the 5yr old and a baby carrier/ backpack for the 6 month old.
You can do sightseeing round trips on the Seine departing from the quays near Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame which take 1 hr with commentary. There is also a hop on / off boat called the Batobus ( see the website ).
If you want to go up the Eiffel Tower buy tickets in advance on the ET website to save a long queue at the Tower ticket booths.
